Bed time, up at 4:00am to get to Dublin airport for flight to Orlando via Gatwick. Just hope that there's no more snow, the road gritters do a good job, Aer Lingus don't run out of de-icer for the planes, Gatwick remains the best of the London airports through the bad weather, no big delays in Dublin so we don't miss the connection, virgin also have de-icer, neither sets of airport fire trucks freeze. All that ok and we'll be in Orlando at 5:30pm ish tomorrow. Wish us luck!!!

6:30 sitting in resturaunt about to get breakfast. Checked in and through to MCO. All looks good so far. Airport packed!!!! Feel for all the people trying to re-organise everything so close to Christmas

Bad news. Airport closed till at least 1:30. We're done for I guess

Ok, update, first flight was cancelled. Managed to get transferred to a direct flight from Dublin to MCO (along with about 20 others who were on the same connecting flight to Gatwick), purely as others couldn't get to Dublin to make their flight. Airport opened again at 1:00is, loads of flights taking off and landing but not us. Announcement that our flight has been delayed due to 'technical issues'. Another few announcement like this over the next 45 mins. Finally start boarding at 2:40 (i think) for take off at 3:00pm. Sitting on the plane being de-iced, more snow, even more snow. Everybody a bit down thinking we have no chance, then we hear we're waiting for 2 that ar missing, checked in, bags on board but not on the plane, ***. They eventually arrive (20mins, longest 20 mins of out lives), we taxi and take off. Huge cheers from everyvbody. Hear from a lady in front of me that her brother is still in the airport and it's now closed. Speaking to one of the staff later and she reckoned we were the last flight out for the night. Phew. arrive at the POLY 3:30am our time, starving so got a pizza or two from Captain Cooks and bed by 4:30, just over 24hrs from bed to bed!!! (not complaining by the way, we realise that we are super lucky to have made it here). Now again off to bed after our first day in Disney, was great by the way, just too tired to write about it now. Do a 2 day post tomorrow

night all

Ok, Arrived late last night, so plans for early morning in MK were scrapped. Lay in till about 10:00am US time. Although we were all still very tired kids were so excited that we just had to let them up and at it. Grabbed a few quick bites from the CL lounge (more about that later) andf headed off to MK on the ferry across the lake, nice trip, have to say GF looked really nice in real life. Docked at the MK and went through baggage check and onto main st. great to look at the kids jaws drop and I must say it is an impressive sight for the first time. I'm sure that so many people here take if for granted now, but try and remember back to your first time!!!!

Walked around for a while to get our bearings. Got FP for space mountian and decided to get some lunch, tried Peco Bills for lunch, used the kiosk ordering and was quite impressed, also noticed that they have implemented the rule that no food, no table. Was working very well and we got seated immediately once we had our food. Kids were happy with their burgers, as was DW and I with her pork bbq sandwich and my angus burger. I headed off to check out Big Thunder railroad, thinking we'd get a FP for later but we couldn't as yet. Wait was only (??) 40 mins so we decided we'd queue up and ride, yippe our first Disney ride. Have to admit was better than I had expected and we were all relatively happy with our first ride.

Headed back to Tomorrowland and got FP for Buzz spin, as we got them also got bonus Fp for Carousel of Progress. Oh the naivety of it all, we thought we were special, LOL. Then I noticed that everyone was getting them!!! Anyway off we toddled and have to say a very enjoyable show, though it's something that probably can only be done once.

Back to the POLY, quick change and off to the Contemporary to Chef Mickey's for dinner at 6:00. Kids absolutely loved it, character interaction was great. Food was far better than I expected and for the kids they thought it was heaven. Back to MK then to use the FP for space mountain and Buzz. DS liked Buzz but did not want to try space mountain so DD and I headed off to that. Wow, what a ride! It's so disconcerting doing basically a roller coaster in the dark, but what fun! DD has voted it the best of her life so far! High praise from one who will try anything once she's one thousandth of an inch taller than the minumum!!

So again off to bed, tomorrow is Christmas daty, nothing much planned, definetly no parks! Breakfast with Lilo&Stich at 9:45 (very civilised!) and then dinner at California Grill at 7:20pm.

Verdict on first day

We're all in love and no doubt will be back :rotfl::rotfl:

Pretty lazy day this. Had originally thought to laze about and go see GF and WL, maybe have a swim, but generally chill. Got up for the late(ish) breakfast with Lilo&Stitch and again kids had a great time with the characters. Food was good, not brilliant but more than adequate, service excellent and overall a very good experience

Decided to head to Downtown Disney as realised that no swim costumes had made the long trip from Ireland! Took a very leisurely stroll through there, including a long stop in the lego store, some girls clothing store (Sorry I'm a man, have no idea what it was called, something to do with matching? :confused3). By the time we got back there wasn't a lot of time left andf DW was a bit peckish. "No problem", says I, off to the CL lounge and pick up a snack or two. Nope, wasn't going to happen, poor choice and 'real' snacks only coming out at 5:00pm, too late for us as dinner set for 7:20. So far, CL a real let down and definetly not worth the money. Thanks to the DIS I gave them all the reservations that I had made (10 days before they could thanks to the old 180+10 glitch, again courtesy of the DIS), food not up to scratch, can't take advantage of the alcohol as unless there is a CM there you can't get it. So, early days, but so far not recommended

Now, California Grill for Christmas dinner. Had heard great things about this place from the flat bread, to the fillet steak to the ambiance, well to pretty much everything. Have to admit that on arrival it's a very impressive place, views are incredible, but to cut a long story short, 2 dining credits, and then $150 on top (Wine, extra appetizer and tip), not worth it by a long shot. OK, adult meals are spot on, but come on, for a place where the vast majority of people are family, the kids menu is pathetic, and my 2 rated this the worst by a mile. Upto then they couldn't stop talking about how good the food in Disney was. It's an experience but to us not worth the money.

Just a note too on the viewing for the fireworks, again seems really impressive at the start, but having watched from the beach in the Poly the previous night, I felt that the angles were all wrong, the whole show just looks slightly off, maybe just me but an observatio none the less.

So off to bed again. thoughts,
weird saying Happy Christmas on sunny 20o C days,
gingernbread house in GF is cool
GF itself comes across much better in real life, still not sure if I'd stay there
Lilo&Stich breakfast is worth it, at least if you have kids
California Grill, not worth the money, but nice food if you're an adult
Disney, still cool :cool2::cool2:

Ok today was all planned around Epcot. During my initial investigations way back in March/April when we started planning this trip, I'd thought that 1 day was more than enough for here, but all my advisors on DIS said no, at least 2 maybe more. This was to be our first of 2, possibly 3, days in Epcot. Had an ADR for Coral Reef at 5:50 and an Illuminations cruise booked for 8:30pm that night. Turns out it was an unexpected AM EMH, but thinking that nobody would want to be up and about early on the 26th we decided that we would be the ones, and what a great decision, place was practically empty at 8:00am.

Did Soarin, Mission space and Test track multiple times with no wait at all. Got 2 FPs for Soarin for later also. Mission space was so-so, whole family reckoned that once was enough (did both green and orange), Test Track was pretty good, definitely worth another go, Soarin, well the whole tribe just wants to move in and setup camp on that ride, myself included, great idea, great details and more than just a 'ride' it's an experience.

After that it was getting bitterly cold so we did a few of the smaller attractions before heading back to the hotel to layer up some more. Nemo & Friends is ok, Turtle Talk with Crush is fab, probably a once per visit type of thing, but if you've kids into Crush, they will love it, Living with the Land is interesting, but a once only again, Captain EO, hmm, best thing to be said about this is remembering that the 80's weren't that bad......

When we got back to the Poly we decided to have a rest for a while so only made it back to Epcot in time for dinner in Coral Reef. Now, lots of people will probably disagree at this point, but I'm afraid the dining experience in Disney is getting to be repetitive, and not in a good way! Firstly the dining room itself was a big let down. Now in fairness, most of this is probably due to my mis-understanding of the many photos I had seen, but I really expected more than just one wall to be the aquarium. But the main issue again, was the kids menu. Cmon Disney, Pizza, Chicken and 1 other choice, where have we seen that before, How about some variety for the kids, something with a little imagination, or at the very least allow a credit of the kids meal against a main course on the adults menu. Asides from that the service was slow, had quite a 'fake' waitress, seemed all bubbly and interested, but really wasn't.

So finished up the meal and trekked through the artic conditions to have the illuminations cruise. Thank god, they had blankets, it really was that cold, and bear in mind that we had barely escaped from snowbound Dublin with temps dropping to -15o C a few days before. The show is fantastic, would watch it many times over. Don't want to ruin it for anyone who hasn't seen it, but it's all in the name. Go and see it, you will not be disappointed.

Ended up getting a taxi back from the Yacht Club as the kids were exhausted and it was just too damn cold!!!

Off to bed, thoughts
Florida what is going on with the weather, 20o to 3o in 1 day???? We didn't barely make it out of Ireland to put up with this, sort it out.
Disney, I know it's early days, but I cannot see us ever doing DDP again, unless it's free
Crush, you are tootttallly sweeet dude
Soarin' the best
Epcot, more to do
Illuminations, best fireworks show so far

Not a lot happened today, as the weather was misbehaving so much, we decided to switch shopping days around so that we wouldn't waste the better of the weather. so today and tomorrow became shopping days, although tomorrow evening we will be at Cirque du Soleil.

Only thing of note today, other than the shops being super busy, was Kona Cafe. Big improvement on other places. Everybody enjoyed their meal and that's the first one since Chef Mickeys. Kids meal is still a bit restrictive though, how about 1/2 portions from the adult menu aw well as the credit idea I put forward yesterday, now that would give some choice. Next time I can see us just buying one meal from the adults and splitting between the 2 kids. But I digress, meal was good, Sandy, our waitress, was excellent, all in all 8/10.

So not much for today, just waiting for the weather to improve, looking forward to Cirque tomorrow.

Night all

Mostly shopping today, went to premier outlets on International Drive. Dropped DW there first and brought the kids to Congo Rive Mini Golf (only about 5 mins away). Bit disappointing but whiled away an hour or so, finished off the shopping, man was it packed, and headed back to Downtown Disney to see Cirque.

Well there is only one word, fantastic (DD just suggested Phenominal!). everybody loved it and has rated it the highlight so far. Was a bit worried how DS (6) would take to it but he loved it and was glued to the stage for every second. Highly recommended to everyone. Had great seat, section 204, row HH, seats 1-4. Bang in the middle, good bit up but not at the back, they were perfect to view everything. Doesn't look like there are any real bad seats though. Just be careful in the front row, you might get picked to help out :lmao:

So not much to report, off to HS this morning and then hop to Epcot for a CP dinner package in Nine Dragons. Oh!, meal last night was a QS from Captain Cooks, not bad, at least the kids had a good choice for a change. They are begging to go back to Chef Mickeys again!

Not much park wise I'm afraid. Weather still bit chilly so continued on shopping. Had the CP package through Nine Dragons on 29th. Dinner was the poorest so far as was the service. The CP itself was pretty good, but, there is no need to book any dinner to see it. You can juts stand outside on the street and watch away for free. Your're close enough for it not to make any significant difference, I think. Either way think that this was another one off, wouldn't be too bothered about seeing it again.

Went to Blizzard beach on the 30th while DW continued with the shopping. Kids had a blast (so did I). summit plummit is awesome, kids really enjoyed the smaller slides and the big family one, can't remember the name. Afterwards, picked up DW and headed to O'Hanas for dinner. At last! For the adults this was the best by far and the kids can't choose between there and Chef Mickeys. Food was lovely and soooo much, too much really. Chicken wings, shrimp, beef, chicken, pork, everything was just great. can really understand why so many people like this place, and it really is an ideal mix for adults & kids, maybe some more of the restaurants should do this.

Ok, so after much planning and research we had decided to go with Hollywood Studios for New Years Eve, with dinner in Hollywood Brown Derby at 7:00pm. Plan was to go early in the morning, pick up fastpasses for later. Arrived at 9:00, straight to TSM and got fastpass for between 2:45 and 3:45 and the standby time was already 120min. Popular ride! Went to the Lights,Motors Action show which was great, really interesting too to see some of the secrets that they have. Had breakfast in Starring Rolls, which was fine, standard croissants, danishes etc. Then grabbed some FP for TOT and RNR, DW and DS not doing either of these so got 2 of each for DD and I. Headed back to the hotel then for a nap for the kids, which turned into 4 hours.

Arrived back at HS at about 5:15, straight to TSM and joined the FP line (even this is longer than most lines I have seen). Got on the ride and did the first 2 or 3 parts and it broke down!. Had to be walked out and everyone got instant FP for later. Just out of curiosity I asked what would happen if they couldn't fix it tonight, would the FP be ok for any other day, answer was no. DS was very upset as he was really enjoying the ride. Headed off then to see the Obsourne Lights being turned on, really cool, and then we did the Great Movie ride before dinner, another interesting ride that will only do once. Dinner in Brown Derby was pretty good, kids like their options. But not worth 2TS credits by a long way.

Once dinner was finished we headed back to TSM and it was back on. Kids loved it, DW & I, thought interesting but wouldn't be too bothered if I missed it, definitely would never queue more than 1/2 hour for it. Took a bit of a wander around then soaking up some atmosphere (plenty of that) and then DW & DS went off to dance in front of the stage whilst DD and I headed to TOT and RNR. verdicts, TOT very clever and cool ride, but based on the size of the tower and the reactions of others, really expected the drops to be a lot more intense. RNR was great, similar to Space Mountain as they are both in the dark, intense twists and turns. Both are on the to-do list for again.

then back to the stage and danced until midnight. Rang in the New Year with fireworks (OK, but not upto MK or Epcot standards). But, all in all a good night, enjoyed by all. Trip back to the Poly was relatively painless and quick considering. Have to hand it to Disney Transport, did a great job last night, overall have found them to be very good.

Thoughts:
TSM - Overrated
TOT - OK
RNR - Cool
Brown Derby - Nice but pricey, not good value
HS for NYE, very good

Bummer that you are getting coldweather but it looks like a warm up is on the way for you. Sad to hear that CL isn't as good as in the past when we have stayed there. We were at the Polly in May but didn't do CL this trip. Sounds like you all are haveing a relaxing time. Next week the crowds should be down for you and rides a walk on as kids go back to school. Are you staying CL at AKL, they have a great layout of food in hte evenings and one drink I think some kind of smoothie that is great. Can't wait to hear about more of your trip. Love live reports.

Weather last 3 days was nice and warm, 25c or so. A little overcast but can't complain considering what we left at home. Spent today in seaworld, currently sitting in the Shamu stadium waiting for the 8:00 'Miracles' show. Had a nice lazy day watching shows, interspersed with Kraken and Manta!!!

Got up very late as DS slept on till about 11. And one thing both DW and I know is that you don't wake him if you want a non cranky day! So arrived in Seaworld about 12:30. Headed in and picked up our quick queue passes for DD and I. Straight to Manta, great ride, not for the faint hearted but DD and I loved it (DS and DW don't really do rides). Went to see the sealion show and it was great fun! DW mentioned that while we were on Manta she brought DS to the aquarium nearby but he practically dragged her through it looking for sharks and none were to be found. So we decided to have a brunch on the Shark Reef Restauraunt. Had to wait 30mins so wandered through the attached shark aquarium which satisfied DS's lust for sharks! Had a really good meal, I mean really good, all for $100 plus tip, sitting basically in the middle of the aquarium (this is what I thought Coral Reef would be like).

DW and DS headed off to see penquins (learnt later that according to DS they were all too small) while DD and I did Kraken, another great ride, both of us prefer to Manta (to be sure and fair we did both a couple of more times later, and the verdict was the same). Went back to see the sealoin's special Christmas show (Clyde & Seamore) and again had a great laugh. They had a really funny mime artist before the show started, really helped to pass the time waiting and was worth seeing in itself.

Then off to Shamu. Good show (I have always wanted to see it) kids loved it but overall wouldn't pay that amount again, don't get me wrong, glad we did this time but been there done that.

Thoughts:
Seaworld definite worth see
Kracken & Manta cool
Food excellent (in Sharks underwater grill, at least, you have to try the blueberry lemonade, thumbs up from all the gang)
Is Seaworld Disney? Not by a long shot, but worth a look at least once.
