off the beaten path...

hello...Besides being ridiculously excited about our upcoming trip, I was thinking about taking my boyfriend away from the theme parks for abit, just to give him some breathing room since he has never been and i am scared it may be a bit overwhelming for him. I was wondering if anyone couldb recommend somewhere for us to go and check out? Doesn't have to be a touristy type of place, just something totally different. We have heard about the Wall Street Plaza and will probably go there for a night, but is there anything else that people can suggest? We are pretty outgoing and adventurous, but we are open to suggestions...it doesn't have to be a nightclub.

I went to a Japanes steakhouse called Kobe in Orlando a few years back. I suggested it to a friend of mine last summer and it was still there then and they had a great time.

There is a winery on Route 27 a little over half an hour from WDW that does tours. www.lakeridgewinery.com

There's a Swamp Buggy Ride about 20 minutes from WDW. http://www.showcaseofcitrus.com/

There are a variety of swamp boat rides, waterskiing, bungi-jumping, types of places.

Mount Dora is great for antiquing, Winter Park has a great downtown arts area with galleries, boutiques, and cafes.

We like to do the same. One thing, if you're a AAA member you can order a free Florida travel book. You'll be amazed at the variety of things to do and places to see.

For those with a car, the first thing that comes to mind is Fantasy of Flight. It was practically empty when we went and a very interesting place to visit.

Well, since my BF is hugely into WWII airplanes, I think Flight of Fantasy is a winner....besides, I told him about it and he pretty much put his foot down on the matter
