We will be going to WDW next summer and looking at staying this time off site. The one good thing about staying inside WDW is not having to worry about traffic, parking etc. Looking at staying at Sheraton Vistana and was wondering instead of driving daily, if anyone has just rented taxi/limo to pickup/drop off at door/gate?? Is that even feasible? Anyone have rates/info? Do they have shuttles and are they reliable?

Thanks
Kim

You could get a taxi to take you back and forth. I would not rely on the shuttles; they are probably scheduled, and only travel back and forth a few times each day.

However, you may be surprised at how easy it is to navigate the world. I would personally drive rather than rely on taxis, which don't always come right when they are called.

I tried to use the shuttle from JW Marriott to Sea Word and ended up taking a taxi back to the hotel. (The shuttles ran very infrequently.) Though SW and the Marriott are close to each other, the ride cost about $15. We've also cabbed it fro DoubleTree to Uninversal, basically across the road, for $5.

I agree with Brian that it's pretty easy to drive and park at Disney if you pay close attention to the signs.

Good luck and have a great time.

Took a quick gander at google maps. Sheraton Vistana (assuming Resort, but Villages is just a bit farther) to Magic Kingdom is about twice the distance of JW Marriott to Seaworld, so expect a higher fare.

If you add up the fares both ways, it is probably cheaper, and lot more convenient to have a car. You can get a last minute deal on Priceline, usually in the $15/day range (plus fees and insurance if you don't have coverage through a CC or your own policy). Parking is another $15 for the day at Disney. Figure $40 either way (cab or rental). The convenience of the car is much better.

And yes, both Vistanas run shuttles to the parks. If you are booking through the Sheraton site or a Travel Agent for a "hotel stay" the shuttle is usually included. If you are trading into Sheraton as a timeshare, (renting from owner, or RCI/II) there is a fee. I don't know what the current fees are; we always drive. Last time I checked, they ran a few morning runs to the parks, one run both ways near mid-day, and then return runs late afternoon/evening. You can probably contact the resort directly if you want current schedule and rates.

Have a great trip!
