Off site restaurants near AKL?

We will have a car for our upcoming trip to Kidani. I know this resort is very close to a busy area of restaurants and shopping- anyone know offhand what kind of restaurants are right there? Particularly family-friendly ones? Thanks!

You are close to 192 by taking Sherberth Rd, and almost every chain restaurant is on that secion of road. Olive Garden, Pizza Hut, fast food, Wild Wings, etc.

Yep, exactly. As soon as you come out of AKL/AKV, the first street to the right is Sherberth Rd. If you take that, you'll come out at 192. From there, take a left and you'll see several restaurants. If you don't like what you see there, keep going until you pass over I-4 and then you'll see many more restaurants down 192.

If you STILL don't see what you want, do a U-turn and head back past the main Disney entrance, even more to pick from.

It would probably be easier to check your favorite restaurants web sites to see if they have locations in Orlando.

If you take a right from Sherberth onto 192 there will be Golden Corral, Red Lobster, Outback Steakhouse, Cracker Barrel, TGIFridays, Carabbas, Olive Garden, Applebees, Longhorn Steakhouse, Texas Roadhouse, Bahama Breeze, Sweet Tomatoes, Fishbone Grill, Millers Ale House, all the fast food chains and many more restaurants most within 10 min of AKL.

As everyone has said, too many to count. Particularly good family choices are Bahama Breeze, Sweet Tomatoes (a buffet, lots of reviews on the board), Long Horn Steakhouse and Giordanos. But there's so many it really comes down to what you're into.

Thank you everyone for the responses! I was starting to second-guess myself and add the dining plan, but I'm relieved to see there are so many choices close by. I have heard a lot on the boards about Sweet Tomatoes but have never been. Looking forward to it!

For the best BBQ around you could venture up to Winter Garden to 4 Rivers Smokehouse. It is a local "chain" if you could call it that. I think they have three locations. This place has some of the best food I have ever tasted. Every time we are in Disney we make a stop at 4 Rivers.

Since you are at AKL the location actually isn't that far. You can hop on 429 (aka Western Beltway) and get off at Colonial Drive/State Road 50. Make a left and it is 4 or 5 lights on your right. One way ride is like 20 minutes.
