My fiance and I have recently found some great airfare rates to travel from Thursday to Monday over Memorial Day weekend. This will be the only weekend that we either of our kids will have a break from travel sports until the beginning of August so we wanted to escape for a weekend of fun by ourselves. I have stayed on-site many times at value and moderate resorts, as well as off-site at Cypress Pointe and Windsor Hills some years back.

We are looking to do a theme park one day, then use the other days to relax by the pool and take it easy. An up-beat pool area with a good pool bar is a must, and we'll most likely spend a a couple of those evenings around Downtown Disney dining out and enjoying ourselves. We are considering getting a rental car depending on where we stay at as well. So far I've considered the Hilton @ Downtown Disney or one of the value resorts. I'd prefer to keep it as close to $100/nt as possible. Any suggestions?

I would do on site. THat weekend will be pretty busy!

Not sure if your aware MK will be open 24 hours on the 23rd and HS has Star Wars weekend. Either would be fun but both will be very busy. I would check ebay to see if there's a last minute listing for Bonnet Creek.

Which Bonnet Creek would you suggest... Hilton or Wyndham?

There are three adjacent properties that use the Bonnet Creek name. Two are hotels - Wyndham Grand Orlando Resort Bonnet Creek and the Hilton Orlando Bonnet Creek - and one is a timeshare resort - Wyndham Bonnet Creek Resort. A lot of people at this forum will recommend the timeshare resort because of potential for lower cost, the size of the units (an assortment of one-, two-, three- and four-bedroom villas, I believe) and the expanded amenities that many timeshare resorts have over the hotels.

There are several threads here discussing the Wyndham Bonnet Creek timeshare resort and how to find lower cost options when compared with the cost of renting directly through the resort website.

A number of posters, particularly famlies, like timeshare resorts. They like the extra space, kitchen, reasonable prices...

A person looking for a hotel/resort experience might prefer the expanded amenities offered by hotels. Amenities such as room service, bellhops, upscale restaurants, dry cleaning, daily maid service and nightly turn down service.

What a great event for adult weekend, value to your ticket and then having the rest of the weekend to chill! 6am Friday to 6am Saturday in the Magic Kingdom. We did last year, only adults, and was great!! Take a long nap, then enjoy the pool the rest of the weekend! :thumbsup2

I have stayed at the Hilton at DTD and loved it. The pool area was really relaxing and spacious with several pools, hot tub, poolside bar and cafe. While we were there they were serving you at your lounger if you wanted. Music in background - you really had no idea you were just across the street from DTD. And there is the other perk - a couple minute walk and you are in DTD!
