Can anyone tell me what there is to do at HH in the offseason? I am thinking about January or November. Do they have activities for children during those months? Is the Beach House open? Thanks!

Lisa

There are ALWAYS activities for children at HH. That is one of just many reasons that people love the resort. If you check out Tommy Towery's site, he has a list of January activities from a few years back. They really do not change all that much.

The Beach House should be open, but the water temperature may prevent you from trying out the ocean. Of course, the pool and sauna (in the resort) are always heated.

Good luck with your planning!

We were there January 2001. The theme pool was closed, and apparently this is the standard time when they drain and refurbish it. The Beach House was open and the pool was heated, but it was too cold for us GA folks to swim. They were serving Hot Chocolate at the BH though. The fish were not biting and crabbing is usually out of the question when it's cold.

Still we had a good time, and the kid's programs were quite enjoyable. The only real drawback is that many of the local establishments (restaurants and stores) are closed for the month of January. Seemed like every restaurant we were recomended to try was shut down. There are still quite a few open, we just seemed to want to go to all the ones that weren't :) ...

I would probably go with November for that very reason.

We have been to HH in early november and had a great time. A couple of the days were summerlike and a couple were chillier, but being from NJ, there was no question that we were going to swim and dip our toes in the ocean. The island is a bit quiet, but you should not have the hassles, restaurant lines, traffic, etc...that you have in the summer.
