Sept. 28, Sunday - We arrive at Hilton Grand Vacation Club around 11 AM. We check in and are told to check back around 2pm for our room. Was just trying as official check in is 4pm. We go to the McDonalds on International Drive that was featured on travel channel as the most unique McDonalds. A bit of a dissapointment as the building is muggy/hot inside, ac wasn't turned low enough. Everything was sticky - railings, tables, chairs ect. Entire place needed a good cleaning. It was nice to have so much selection at a McDonalds and the kids loved the games and prizes. Employees were rude which surprised me. My DH was turned off by the place and we won't go out of our way to go back.
We drove back to Hilton and it was nearly 1pm. I tried again and our villa was ready
. I had requested non-smoking which we got (important, as Dsis has asthma) and close to main pool which we did not. We were in the Devonshire building, 4th floor, with a view of the quiet pool. Really lovely. I called the front desk to thank them for our location as I think I had a sad face when they showed me on the map how far we were from the main clubhouse. I would have preferred the Hamilton building but this was a nice substitute. We settled into the room with king bed and spa tub. We stocked the kitchen with groceries we had brought and extra pans (I love my own wok pan). We placed some goodies for my sister's family to find in their room. Their room had it's own bathroom, small kitchenette (I put beer and soda in their fridge), double bed and sleeper sofa, small table and chairs, tv/vcr and a screened in balcony.
We napped and vegged. We prepared supper and they showed up in time to eat with us. They flew in from Washington state and had a rental car from Dollar. Kids' favorite place to play turned out to be our balcony. Screened in and big with a fan, gave them their own little place. My DD loved the big tub and took a bath/swim every day. Pretty happy with HGVC
