Hello All,

I was wondering is there a primer/thread/map discussing the location/experiences of the various offsite hotels. I thought I would be staying on campus but the rate are high for the ammenities available. Last year when we went to disneyland I found all sorts of articles/stickies on good offsite hotels. Any advice/help would be greatly appriciated.

A hotel with shuttle service to the disney parks would be a big plus.

I went and found what you were talking about and I don't think us off-siters have anything like that here on the Dis.

I only consider staying at offsite places that are located on Rt. 192 and I always find myself browsing hotels on their interactive map. I don't have anything for the entire Orlando/Kissimmee area.

http://www.kissimmee-us192.com/map/ushwy192mapindex.htm

I look at the map and click on the hotel and get the info re: amenities, area events/attractions, accomodations, even shuttle info...

Sorry that I couldn't help you out in a better way.

Thanks for the info. Gave me a good start. After factoring in all the cost/convience. I think I'm learning towards an onsite stay. I've got little ones and I think they will want a afternoon nap. At DL there are several offsite hotels really close to the gates, but I think at WDW it's worth it to stay onsite.

I think that is a good choice. The suttles from off site resorts run on a schedule and only a couple of times a day. If you miss the bus you will be stuck and have to take a taxi. That said, we just returned from 2 nights at Gaylord Palms and it was wonderful, but not inexpensive even with a great rate we got from DU. We had a car so transportation was not an issue. Do not underestimate the convience of staying on site with little ones.

Maxie86,

Thanks for your input. How often do the buses come by the resorts of the WDW resorts? Every half hour? I was also taking a hard look at the resorts in DTD. do you have any experience with these hotels?

You shouldn't have to wait more than 10-20 minutes for a bus. The busier it is the more often they run. They will run constantly from before park opening until after park closing. The buses can get crowded and you may have to stand. That is the reason that we rent a car, I have an inner ear condition and can not stand on the bus, I lose my balance easily. There was never an issue with long waits for them. Most of the time when leaving a park there was already a bus waiting. I have never stayed at a DTD hotel, but have the Hilton in DTD booked for December. I couldn't pass up a great rate. I believe the buses from the DTD hotels aren't much better than an off site hotel. It is not Disney transportation, since they are not owned by Disney.
