Of your points, how much do you use at Disney, and how much do you use non disney?

DVC resorts only except for one trip to the Disneyland Hotel and 1 night at CS (couldn't get into DVC - last minute date chg. Before $95 fee). Members since 1999.

Clark...good question. I am a "soon to be DVC member" as well. Passed ROFR and close next week. I see responses show that most folks are Disney use only and that RCI is often waitlisted/difficult to get/not best value of points. That's unfortunate, as I was looking forward to the flexibility to use points outside of Disney here and there. Anyone have information on the "process" to use RCI? DVC guide made it sound like it was easy, but I'm hearing differently here.

There are times when you may need to deposit your points with RCI and just wait for what you want to come up. And it may never come up. So you have to use them at a different RCI resort or maybe at a different time. It's not as easy as making a reservation at 7-11 months out at your home DVC resort.

I bought DVC because it was Disney and I wanted to go to Disney. I've never used any points outside of Disney, although I have stayed at non-DVC Disney resorts and booked an ABD. If I wanted to trade through RCI or II or whatever the current trading company is, I would have bought a cheaper timeshare closer to home for that purpose.
