Of the 4 Italian Restaurnats which do you think is best?

We've only eaten at Via Napoli and Tutto. Both had good food, but I felt they were more accommodating at Tutto. At Via in December, they were not willing to alter any menu items (all I wanted was penne pasta instead of spaghetti).

No way would I eat Italian at Disney :). Of course I'll eat BBQ there, I am sure folks from the south would say the same thing.

That is hard we love them all. If we had to pick only one to do in our trip though it would be Via Napoli. We have been several times now and enjoyed it VERY much every time.

Tutti is my favorite of the four and great value on the DP.

Years ago we ate at Tony's. Very umimpressive; they're going for the convenience and location factor. That experience probably turned us off from the other Italian restaurants.
We like Pacino's (offsite) on rt. 192 in Kissimmee just a couple of miles off property.

:wizard: I think it depends what kind of place you want. I would cross off Mama Melrose and Tony's because the food isn't that great. That leaves Tutto Italia and Via Napoli. Tutto is a nice sit down restaurant. The food is great and it's a little fancier. I haven't been to Via Napoli but we stuck our head in the door last year when it first opened and it seemed much more casual and quite noisy. I would choose Tutto Italia because I like to sit and relax and talk over dinner.

The best Italian by far is Il Mulino. We love it. But, it is not on the dining plan.

On the dining plan, we have not tried Tutto Italia. We have dined at Tony's and at Mama Melrose.

Our last meal at Mama Melrose was surprisingly tasty. We always enjoy the calamari appetizer. My pasta with sausage was tasty and our table practically inhaled the cannoli cake. We were pleasantly surprised.

Tony's we have found to be rather uneven -- tasty one time and disappointing another. Our most recent meal a few months ago was fine. And, I will add that we had the best steak (NY strip) we have ever had at a WDW restaurant (except Shula's) at Tony's. But, it was a one-shot accident. We have tried the steak a few times since and it has never been in the same category.

Portobello seems to have been completely lost in this discussion; I'd like to see it compared to the others also. And has anybody tried Andiamos's? Being across the street from the Marketplace (at the Hilton), it could be more convenient to some than Il Mulino.

For me (an amateur chef and big fan of Italian cuisine) it's not even close: Il Mulino by a country mile. Great upscale atmosphere, fantastic food and a very comprehensive wine list. It's probably the restaurant that reminded me most of my trips to Italy. They aren't on the dining plan (which is probably why I like it so much - keeps the crowds down and quality high), but they now accept the Tables in Wonderland card for annual passholders.

After Il Mulino, I'd probably go with Via Napoli for it's fun, casual approach. I've only dined at Tutto Italia once and found the food uninspired and the prices exorbitantly high for what you get. I wish it had stayed Alfredo's.

As far as Mama Melrose, only been there twice. Once was extremely good - a fantastic server, good food and a reasonable price. The second time, it was terrible. Clueless server, food was all burnt ... hated it.

Never been to Tony's at MK (heard nothing good about it) or Portobello (we always end up at House of Blues if were at DD for the night).

We are also looking for another italian place. We like Tony's though. Maybe we hit it on a good night. We will eat there our first night. I wanted to eat at Tutto's but it is on on the dining plan. And I was leaning toward Via Napoli until someone posted they would not change anything on the menu. DB has major health issues and italian is a challenge. He cannot have parmesan cheese and it is in most dishes. We have never had trouble at Disney though but if they are not going to be willing to take out parmesan on his dish we won't be eating there. Will go for Mama Melrose instead.
