Hi! We're going to be flying in Oct 15th and out on the 24th. We also have APs. Last Oct. we had a campsite, other than that we've no experience onsite. In order to make the trip doable we're going to need to eat some meals in-room. I currently have Pop Century ressies without discount. So in a nutshell here's what I'm looking for...

:tilt: refrigerator in room. We've done the icechest bit and other then maybe cooling down drinks the $10/day for the fridge will be well worth avoiding the PIA of lugging ice/chest/melts. As I understand it, with any resort (other then campsite) either refrigerators are supplied OR we can rent them for $10/day. Is this correct?

:tilt: access to a microwave. While I do want to eat in-room, I do not want to short-order-cook in room! I was thinking sandwiches but also quick-nuke things a'la Hot Pockets. I've seen a lot of discussion about the value resorts having microwaves in the food courts that are available for the guests to use, but, how about the moderates? Do they have available microwaves? (in food court for instance) Are they accessable to the resort guests? or is it Frowned upon using them? Is it a long walk? or a short jaunt? or does it depend on the resort? Knowing that I want to use a resort microwave, would you have a recommendation on which resort and where in that resort to request staying?

:tilt: Internet access. We need 5-20minutes a day of access to check emails to stay in business contact; webmail so personal applications not necessary. Now, last year at Oak Resort the office had a kiosk, feed a bill and get your time. That worked. We also tried the in-park ones but hated the ones we tried!! Seemed people were crowding around behind us-no privacy whatsoever. We can bring a laptop that may work for us wireless or wired, but oddly enough I'd actually prefer a kiosk situation or a business center, so I don't have to troubleshoot the old and creaky laptop, worry about security w/it or lug it on the plane. Tis my vacation! I just need to check mail. I found Kinko's online that has a very resonable rate, but if we can find a solution where we do NOT have to drive then that's better. (We'll have a rental car I'm pretty sure, so that's an option, but I'm looking for on-site solutions at the moment). Does Coronado Springs also have a business center where I can walk in, sans computer, give 'em money, sit down at one of their computers and log on to check mail? Would anybody know if they do and also if they rent them for short periods of time (like Kinkos).

Wow, that turned out long! I'm still looking for off-site solutions too, and that may have to be the way. But I would really like to stay onsite at least part of the time. "Solutions" that will not work are renting points and home-away-from-home resorts. I saw the Sept rates when I made the ressies and then was disappointed at $100 for a 'value'. I'd spend $70 at a moderate, or even a value if I could find a resonable-rated internet solution.

I really hope you guys can help me. I know I can plan and arrange this trip offsite, but I'd like to cut out all the drive-times on this trip! Thank you thank you for any advice you can give!

Best regards!

Woo! Got AP rates applied to my reservations so the per-night iclud.tax is 76.94. That's not including fridge because I'm still thinkink things through. Res agent 'put me' in building 70s. Thinking about staying at an airport motel the night of arrival, one w/ a free shuttle, since we're getting in 11pm or so. Then we'll have one less day on the car rental, too. If I can find a <$70 airport motel for the first night that should offset the fridge cost. I'd still love info on my original questions tho! DH wants to know if we can use CS business center if we're staying at PC.
TIA!

Does anyone know about the 'net access and microwave? Appreciate it!

Don't know much, but I have read posts from people that used the micro. in the foodcourt for things like popcorn and the likes. I am hoping to do just this in Jan. I assumed it was doable and o.k. since others had done it. I asked for a frig to be placed in the room and was planning much the same as you. I don't know about the net. BTW How hot and dry is it in Austin? I am on the coast south of Houston and we are dry as a bone!

It's been unseasonably comfortable! It feels as though we barely had a summer this year. It's been mid 90s all week, I'll bet. And a bit of rain every other day just about. Thanks for the reply. Still trying to make decisions here.

No problems using the microwave in the food court at the moderates.

Yes you can use the business center at CSR. It is $10 for 15 mins of computer use.

Thanks so much Safetymom!

I'm so excited. I got the AP email yesterday and stayed up all night last night to change my reservations. Seems I read the email wrong and there was no need to stay up.

But still. It all feels very "real" now! woohoo! WDW here we come!

It appears the most cost-effective methods of checking mail for us will be a combination of the kiosks in the parks and taking the laptop to dial-up w/aol or peoplepc.

Now it's research and planning, the fun parts. Got CRT breakfast on an early day and the Pirates cruise set up for the 2nd to last day (what will we ever do with ourselves! *grin*). Maybe I ought to get DD4 a disposable camera to take on the cruise.

Cheers to you all! Thank you for sharing my disney addiction, so my DH doesn't bear the brunt of it!

I remember CSR having unlimited internet access for something like $10-20/day in the room. :wave2:
