How many days has the parks been closed this year?

And is this the most days they have been closed since they have been opened?

Yes, this is the most days in one year since they opened. 1 day for Charley- all parks, 2 for Frances - all parks, and I believe AK and MGM an additional day, 1 for Jeanne - all parks. Last closing prior to this year was for Floyd in 1999 and an early closing for Erin in 1995. Also, the days following 9/11.

Here is list of each WDW park and the only days they have ever been closed.

Magic Kingdom
-1 Day for Hurricane Floyd 1999
-1 Day for 9-11
-1 Day for Hurricane Charley
-2 Days for Hurricane Frances
-1 Day for Hurricane Jeanne
Epcot
-1 Day for Hurricane Floyd 1999
-1 Day for 9-11
-1 Day for Power Outage(I believe in 2002)
-1 Day for Hurricane Charley
-2 Days for Hurricane Frances
-1 Day for Hurricane Jeanne
Disney Studios
-1 Day for Hurricane Floyd 1999
-1 Day for 9-11
-1 Day for Hurricane Charley
-3 Days for Hurricane Frances
-1 Day for Hurricane Jeanne
Animal Kingdom
-1 Day for Hurricane Floyd 1999
-1 Day for 9-11
-2 Days for Hurricane Charley
-3 Days for Hurricane Frances
-1 Day for Hurricane Jeanne

Well sort off. If Im not mistaken they didn't make everyone leave untill noon, but they stoped letting people in the park much earlier. However, in any case you are correct that they were not closed for the entire day.

It was only an hour or so before they closed the parks that they stopped letting people in. In our greenroom we were watching on cnn that the parks were already closed (around 11:30) but our manager was telling us that we weren't closed. We still did our 11:50 show.

Yes Peter, the power outage at Epcot was in early July, 2002...we were staying at the Dolphin for DH convention and were planning on touring Epcot that very day but adjusted due to the power outage..I remember being a little un-nerved as the nation was under a hightened terror threat and this was my first thought. It was miserably HOT!!!

That is true, the parks were not Actually "closed" for 9/11, they did open that morning, (as the events were still unfolding) they in fact closed early that day and opened on 9/12. So 9/11 does not count as a park closed day, it was an early close... as was the day before Hurricane Erin, the day before Hurricane Flloyd, the day before Hurricane Charley, Frances and Jeanne.

As you can see it is not normal and this year has been the most closures that the parks have seen in their history.

I heard the parks opened late the day after Hurricane Erin too. Is that true? I cant confirm as we left that morning and didnt look into it, but I know they(all 3 ;) ) closed early the night before...Aug 1, 1995.

Yes CamColt they did open late as Erin came through overnight. I was there, but it was 1995 so the memory is a little hazy but I believe we opened them at noon the day after Erin (I worked at the Beach Club at the time...)
