Odds of waitlist for New Years trip?

I am waitlisted for the week of New Years. I know it is doubtful, but anyone have experience with this???
We are trying to get a studio.

Chances are it could still come through. If you really want to be there, I'd have a back-up plan in place and then wait to see how many nights come through on the wait list. The most difficult night will be December 31.

For which resort?

I would imagine that the smaller resorts (VWL, BCV, BWV) will be harder than OKW.

Hope it comes through before you have to give up.

Right now we are on the waitlist for BWV and VWL. At the 7mth window we can get on for BCV or OKW.

Your chances will be better after the 7-month window passes. Other people that currently have ressies where you want to go may decide to switch to another resort at their 7-month window.

I'm on the waitlist for the 31st for a standard 2BR at BWV. Unfortunately that day is right in the middle of our stay. We would hate to have to move for one night and then move again the following night. So we're REALLY keeping our fingers crossed!

I have either a BCV studio or a BWV studio available to rent at $1100 each. Check in Dec 28, five nights. My group has been switched over to a BCV two bedroom.

travelbug: My bet is that they won't make you move. Last New Year's we had the same situation. We were told to come up to the front desk on December 30 and they would try to work it out. Sure enough when we did, we were allowed to stay in our room. Someone else was given the preferred for one night that we had. We had to check out, then check back in on the 31st. The best part was that we got a free cleaning out of checking out much to our surprise. Don't worry. Just let them know the situation when you check in and yes we got the points back for the preferred room we had reserved for the one night.

When I tried to make a reservation a couple of weeks ago, they still had SOME (very few) studios available at OKW for NYE. At the 7 month window you might be able to get something right away. If not, I'm sure you will be near the top of the wait list. I think your chances are pretty good if you go on a wait list everywhere.

HBC, thanks for the encouraging words. I wonder how they pulled that off for you at the last minute like that?? Does it maybe have something to do with room inventory that they save for cash paying customers or something?

If the waitlist doesn't come through for us, I really hope we have good fortune as you did. I will surely follow your advice and explain our situation to the front desk, with a great deal of charm of course , in the hopes that they can prevent us from moving.
