I am taking my two nieces to WDW (ages 14 and 21). Right now I have a preferred view accessible room at the All-Stars Music booked for Aug 19-24 with the free dining offer that ended last Dec. Due to flight times I want to add a day the the front (8/18) for a room only. There is a discount for the room but the availability is only for accesible standard view. That pretty much guarantees I will have to switch rooms. Actually have two rooms booked for each segment, one accessible and one not since my sister and husband will be traveling with me.

My travel agent is suggesting I either pay rack rate for the rooms for one night of preferred view or drop the other rooms down to standard view to substantially increase the odds I won't have to switch room.

I want to avoid the room switching if at all possible. So which will would be the best way to go? It will cost $77 more to do rack rate or save $204 to drop. However, we went in August of last year and the rest of the family greatly appreciated being closer with the preferred view. For me, with wheels, it makes no difference.;)

I do understand the the room is going to be a king with a roll away but am okay with that. I also understand that I will have to check in and out for the second segment but I just do not want to have to drag the stuff out to bell service, leave it and then come back and get it back to the new rooms.

Are there perfered rooms available at the discount rate for that first night. If so check to see if there are any accessible preferred view rooms avalable at any rate. If so they must give you the discounted rate on the accessible room. sometimes the computer messes this up so it is worth checking to make sure

I would keep checking it is a long time till August, and it is very likely one will come available at a good rate.

We actually had the same thing happen to us once. They ended up putting us in the preferred room and we did not have to change rooms. But we also go during Dec so maybe since rooms are readily available that is why they did it.

Has your TA checked to see if you could add the night on the beginning under your existing reservation? Yes you'll pay rack rate for the room but you'll also get the extra dining credits. Being under one reservation would do away with your problem. Even though the code's long expired, you can still add days under the promotion as long as there's availability under that promotion.

I'm actually surprised that your TA didn't suggest this. Is your TA a Disney specialist?

Thanks for the information but apparently the fairies have dusted me with pixie dust, because I just received an email with a pin code offer for free dining. I was able to change everything by one week to get all the days and rooms under one reservation with the free dining for all the days instead of having one day without it on a separate reservation.
