It was about 8pm I was still at work DH was home.

A person around early 20's rings the bell--DH answers the kid is wearing a white polo shirt with the Homeywell Inc embroided on it(Honeywell is a security co I dont know if there nationwide)

DH was in no mood for this (door to door selling) since it was upper 90's

DH said he wasnt interested in anything you're selling--

kid got an attitide and said who said I was selling anything I was going to give you $2000 for putting a sign in front.he was saying this as he was walking away he had no other ID except for his shirt and nothing with him except for a clickboard.

So this AM I called Honeywell.
the lady that answered said they were getting alot of calls and she was transferring me to the manager.

he said that this persson didnt work for hoenyewell that he is contracted by another co out of state

the manager didnt call them a scam outright he called them doing a bate and switch game

where this first guy gets you signed up and then someone else comes and tells you how much this is all going to cost you

the manager told me he got another call from a lady that did sign up and her alarm get going off she called honeywell and they couldnt do anything to help her cause they had nothing to do with the system.

he also told me that they only do businesses and not homes and they dont go door-to-door

this was a little to scary

We got a similar thing.. except we didn't complain and it wasn't Honeywell. Some guy was like "if you let us put a sign in your yard we will give you free digital cable with HD and some premium channels, free cable internet, free cable phone" blah blah blah... K CYA

There have been stories though, about people trying to sell their houses, and someone from overseas is like "I'll buy your house, give me your account and I'll send my money your way.." they do it.. and weeks later the money in the account is gone....

I had a guy from Honeywell come by last week also. I open the door and he says "I'm going to be putting a sign on your lawn for a few weeks". "And you are??" The guy was unbelievable, I kept telling him I wasn't interested and he kept ignoring me and telling me the rules. I have to make sure my lawn is always mowed, make sure no dirt gets on the sign...I finally had to get rude and more or less close the door in his face.

This happened to me too a couple of years ago. I asked them for a card and they said they didn`t have one. :confused3 It sounded fishy to me and I told them to get off of my property before I called the police.

Wow, I cannot believe the tenacity of these people, if they even tried to tell me they were just going to do something on my property, I'd have them arrested immediately for harrasment and trespassing.

We have a "No Solicitors" sign right below our doorbell. That usually deters those guys, but on occassion it doesn't. When I open my door, if it is a solicitor/sales person, I simply point to the sign, and close the door in their face never saying a word. I've had some try to tell me they are not solicitors, they are there to offer me a deal!!

The best thing to do when something like this happens is to pick up the phone and call the police to tell them that someone is going door to door and it sounds fishy. If it's a scam, they need to be stopped and the only way to do that is to alert the authorities.

These creeps could be pedophiles, burglars, murders - anyone casing a place. And even if they aren't one of those, they could be scam artists trying to rip off the unsuspecting.

I remember when I was in high school, on a few different occassions someone would come to the door with a scam like this and my father always called the cops. They weren't supposed to be soliciting door-to-door without a special permit. And I don't think anyone ever had a permit. The cops would find them a few houses down the street and that would put an end to their knocking on doors.
