Odd question, any one buy insured medical equipment in the US?

In our case I'm thinking hearing aids...dh needs to buy some and the amount of coverage vs the cost is pretty discouraging. I wondered if (like every frickin' thing else) if they'd be cheaper in the US. But then maybe dh's workplace insurance wouldn't cover... I expect it would be the same with other stuff like glasses (though at least you can get cheap glasses if you look hard enough now--I got mine at costco last time). Anyone ever done this?
