odd packing question for airplane

I've done it before, with bottles of Mountain Dew. Bottles just seem safer to me, for some strange reason. I double bagged a couple at a time, and then I wrapped them in some clothing and put them in the center of the suitcase.

Yep!! Gotta have my Diet Dew!! :lmao: So I pretty much do the same thing as you. and I prefer the 24 oz bottles too! Never had one break yet and I have done it more than a couple of dozen times! ;)

And it's true. I have a co-worker who use to work for Southwest. He said that the heavier the luggage, the more it would get thrown around. :furious:

Then mine must get thrown the hardest with my diet dew bottles because I pretty much always fly SW and my suitcases weigh in at between 49 and 49.9 lbs! :rotfl2:

I have also brought rum home from the Caribbean multiple times never with any problems.... just sayin.....

This doesn't make sense. Why would anyone chose anyone chose the heaviest piece of luggage to "throw around?"

It's not really a matter of choice, just physics.

Try it yourself: pick up an empty suitcase and try to set it down gently on your bed. Easy, Right? Now try it with a 50 pound suitcase. Not so easy. You need more force to lift it, so there's naturally going to be more force when putting it down.

The law of Physics wins again! :scared:

There's physics and there's vindictiveness.

Reading the poster's words and seeing her chosen emoticon based on her conversation with the person, there's a definite feeling that she is reporting the latter.

The former SW employee isn't talking about physics.

Which you didn't seem to believe.

My point is that baggage handlers are notoriously rough with luggage, and there is a very real reason why heavier luggage can be subject to rougher treatment than lighter luggage.

When your bag is loaded onto a plane, "thousands of pounds of luggage" are not loaded on top of it! Bags are loaded on shelves or in containers.

Think you are mistaken. No shelves and if they use containers bags are still stacked inside of them
