October reservation question?

For those of you going in Oct. do you already have your room ressie? I was wondering if I should wait to make my reservations until I see what codes might be available or book now. I am thinking about AKL or GF. Does anyone know if there is a possibility a code would come out for either resort? Thanks for any advise! Also, any other suggestions for an Oct. stay???

We are planning to go in late October. Some people say to book now and apply the codes. My thinking is if I do that then I might be contributing to a reason why a code might not come out. Why would Disney put a code out if everyone was booking?? That's just my philosophy and I know some will disagree. Some say that at least you know you have your room and you will know the maximum that you will pay. I am just going to ride it out. I have our flights booked and even a rental car reserved.. I am going to wait on the room though. There will always be somewhere nice to stay down there so it doesn't really worry me.

I agree with disneybud...I usually wait until codes are out. I would think by the end of the summer, they should be out for Oct. The codes that are out now expire when? Around July 3rd or so.

I also agree with Disneybud. We are going in early October and will not book until the codes come out. Last October there were codes for AKL and GF. They came out in late July.

I tend to agree that booking early is self-defeating if you are hoping for codes. When we first went to WDW in 1998 and 1999 there were no codes. If the bookings get up there they will not offer them. That being said, I am confident they will have them for October, since they have had them for winter and spring. I am hoping the codes for this fall will be similar to those offered last October (AKL sav. view $169 and GF garden view $229), rather than those offered this spring (AKL sav view $215 and GF garden view $284) (Tax not included). Keep your fingers crossed!

We are also looking at going in October. I refuse to book until codes come out.

To tell you the truth, I think it is really rude of people to book a room waiting for the codes come out when they book a certain room that they only plan on actually getting if codes come out. So many people book a deluxe resort, and then hold up inventory on a room that they'll never use (since when using a code you actually need a new reservation from a different pool of rooms, they may let you keep the same reservation # but they are taking it from different availability). Plus, when people book these rooms at regular rates, Disney sees them as being book and will release less discounts. So, it really hurts everyone when someone books a room at a rate that they are unwilling to pay and won't keep if discounts don't come out.

Last year we paid $189 a night for the Beach Club, and I hope to see that again!

Thanks for all your input, guess I'll be waiting for a code! Does anyone know when codes for Oct. might be released? Also, anyone heard anything about when tickets for MNSSHP might go on sale? Thanks again!

Going in early October and I agree on the reasons stated for waiting.

The other approach that I have seen mentioned often is to book the room you can afford and are happy with without codes, and then if something great comes out for a better room, book it then.

That way, you are not artificially inflating demand on the better rooms.

The last two years I've waited till codes come out. We go in November and codes have come out either late July or August---don't remember which. I'm not one that calls the first day and in fact last year, with CBR closing, switched to other hotels at good codes quite a bit after release and got the hotels I wanted. So you'll likely not have problem with getting what you want. And if they don't have what you want, keep checking back.

That said, I jumped in and already made my reservations for this year. The start of my trip is a really busy weekend plus, there are very few pool view rooms at AKL so I wanted to get one reserved. Hopefully I can get code later and if not, will change to something with code.

Good luck and enjoy your trip!!!!

Sharon

I would book it to be safe. As far as being rude, I don't believe that is the case. I actually believe there are a lot more people out there that have never even heard of codes and pay the full rack rate so they book whenever they can. I was one of those people until last year! We have already booked for November using our Disney Club but if codes come out better, then we'll change.
