We've never been in oct before but are going 12 oct for 2 weeks with a 5 year old. Should we get pool heating? :confused3 Some I've spoke to say yes, others no.
Any thoughts out there?

I would say, yes definately, we went in Oct 2007 and had heating but it was still a little chilly

we went beginning of november and wouldnt have gone in the pool without the heating!

Totally, get the pool heated! We have been early Nov and as the previous poster said I don't think I'd have used the pool otherwise.

I would as it gives you the option to swim in the evenings/mornings which is when our kids used the pool most

Another vote for yes - though do you have to decide beforehand? I mean if you get there and the weather is really hot can't you just say you don't need it?

October, and April - are borderline months. Some would get pool heating and others not.

For example we haven't pre-paid heating for our April holiday, but have an 'agreement' with the owners and Management Company that if we decide to go ahead we can do so out there and pay $ in cash at the time.

If you opt to not book heating most villas these days come with a pool cover, these can help keep the heat in when the pool is not in use.

I would agree, go for the heating

We've done October with and without (not through choice!) heating and would definitely have pool heating.

IMHO with 3 boys under 8 the answer is yes. Remember to have lots of towels when they kids get out of the pool as they can get a chill very quickly.

I would say YES; we have stayed in hotels during Oct/Nov and the staff have informed us that it is law that the hotels cannot heat their pools until Nov. The water was freezing!! especially as the pools were in the shade all day.

It's well worth paying to heat your pool, you don't want it to spoil your hard earned vacation.:thumbsup2

We went in Oct last year and had pool heating. Only thing was it was TOO HOT. We looked like lobsters when we got out of the water. We had to come out to cool off. We contacted the management company who turned it down 2 days before we left and then it was too cold. So make sure the temperature is to your liking as soon as you arrive to avoid anything like this happening. It wasn't good!

We go at the end of May and still have the pool heating!! We like to be able to swim early mornings and late evenings tho.
