So I didn't see a new thread started yet. So here we go. Who wants to join in? The rules are simple, you set your own rules. How many days of No Buy can you achieve for October? No Buy is whatever you decide it will be. For example, I am going for 18 No Buy days and I don't count regular bill payments against me such as electric or phone.

I am going for 18 No Buy days!

October 1 - No Buy
October 2 - Spent $20.00 at a local festival. One apple pie and one festival t-shirt.

I'd like to join in, I'm not counting monthly bills, gas or groceries (use the gift cards that give back to the kids school for those items). So anything I use my check/cc for counts, I'm aiming for 15 No Buys.

October 1- $5.00 Starbucks
October 2- no buy (1)

Happy October everyone!!!

My goal: 10 days

October 1-$3 for a HUGE pumpkin (couldn't pass it up!!) :)
October 2-no buy #1!!!
October 3-groceries (i don't count these) and hopefully no more!!!!

Joining for October. Counting anything that comes out of my/joint checking/credit card. DH is on his own. :) Not counting gift cards. All else is on the table.

My goal: 10 days

October 1 - birthday present for DD's friend
October 2 - groceries
October 3 - car tag, postage

I'll join. My September was a real bust. :(

I have a budget of $725 for groceries this month. I bought GCs last month because there was a good points deal on them. Since I counted those in last months' spend I won't count anything that comes from there in my buys. Other than that I count everything that isn't a monthly bill or gas. Also all groceries that aren't on those GC.

My goal - 18 no buy days

1. No buy 1/18
2. No buy 2/18
3. No buy 3/18

October 3 - Definitely not a no buy. I went on a Costco shopping trip, I have to gather my receipts and see how I did with my grocery budget. I also called DH at work and he met me for lunch. $28.00 spent. I did sooooo well in September and I am not starting October out well. I am not willing to throw in the towel on day three though. I know on October 4 I will also be spending $$$. Then it's back on the wagon.

October 4 - $$$$$$$ Homecoming expenses for my DD, seriously, when did it get so expensive to go to a dance?
October 5 - Did all my extra shopping for the month - Paid last of DD homecoming expenses - DD field trip cost, nephew birthday gift, taxes, shipped box of food to DS at college (Amazon Prime Pantry).

OMG - Have to get back on the bandwagon tomorrow. I have set a rather strict budget for us because I want to be able to cash flow all of my DS college expenses that we are paying and put aside enough to pay DDs college expenses in 2019. We can do it, we just have to stick to the budget, there really isn't any way around it. So it will be close this month, but I think I can still make it. Grocery expenses are doing OK. Out of a $500. budget I have about $111. left for the month. I did a couple of big stock up shops and bought meat which I was pretty much out of. So I think I can still come in at budget for groceries.

October 6 - I did meal planning and picked up some groceries for next week. I really, really have to get started on No Buy or I am simply not going to make it this month. I am still on budget, I'm tracking that as well. I started a little notebook to keep track of every expenditure. I am on month 3 of doing this. I started the notebook because I wanted to keep track of what I was putting on my CC for rewards points. The side benefit is that I know exactly where I am at in my budget for each line item. Onward into October, I will not give up.

I'm here, but doing horrible. 1/18 no buy days so far. Money is flying out of my pockets left and right. Today will be so far from a no buy day.

Daughters laptop finally crapped out. I am headed to Best Buy to see if they have anything reasonable in their open box sale. We had carpet installed upstairs which was planned for, but which resulted in a flurry of expenses, paint, spackle and finally updating DD room a little. New bedding, shelf, we're going to paint her dressers and add knobs and now the laptop.

I don't want to give up on October, then I'll just be behind further. My plan is to go out today to run errands and go no where all weekend. My house is all discombobulated from the carpet install so I have massive cleaning to do. Food budget is doing well, I will pick up milk today and shouldn't need any shopping for next week.

It will all straighten out soon.

Ok, so I called too early. My son broke his arm Sunday night, while I did not "buy" anything this will be an expensive day!
October 10- forgot lunch at home getting son back to the doc for swelling, $20 for me and co-workers (they had to put up with my mood)! $45 Sons bday present, $75 Christmas gifts, $55 stuff for our Disney trip in December.
Octobwr 11- got a refund for sons Halloween costume that is on back order, bought another. Even though refund is not showing yet I'm saying a no buy (5) since I will actually get a little money back when the dust settles.
