October is here!!! A Semi-live TR!!! Our Oct 7-14 trip to the world!

I actually never thought of DC as "the South" but apparently it is?? I never knew within such a short flight of Toronto you'd be in "the South" and that it would be SO HOT at the end of June lol. I figured it would be the same as at home...you know hot-ish...but not...oven like. So that was a bit of a surprise.

Yeah, it definitely gets hot there. I've been there pretty much only in summer - and I have friends there who are always posting on fb about how hot it is!

and Muppets. And Star Tours.
There's One Man's Dream too and Voyage of Little Mermaid and Beauty & Beast show.
And Frozen sing along.

Those do sound like enough to keep you guys busy for a bit. Oh, and Great Movie Ride. And Fantasmic. Not sure if you guys would get into LMA or Indy as much? We did LMA our first trip, but not Indy. LMA was loud (we had ear plugs for ds), but fun - but definitely not very girly.

Note, that was the park that *we* skipped. But you have a little more time than we did.

What I would do is show up at park opening and mad dash it to Toy Story and then organize the rest of your day based on show times for Indy, Beauty, Little Mermaid, Frozen. Go to your ADR and then pool time! Make a FP+ for the evening so that after pool time you can go back, use your FP on Toy Story and then see Fantasmic. Fantasmic is wonderful and not to be missed if you have never seen it.

That sounds like a good plan. I haven't seen any of the shows actually because we were so ride focused last time - and that was years ago...so that sounds good. I do want to see Fantasmic but it depends on how tired we are later if we want to go back to the park. I may try to get an FP+ for Fantasmic.

I really enjoy just strolling around and the street entertainment is great as well. I also was not excited about the Frozen sing-a-long, and skipped my FP for it as I was running late. I ended up lining up for it, and loved it so much that I went again!

I think I would like the street entertainment too as long as it isn't a thousand degrees out that day....who knows in October...never been that time of year before. Glad you liked the sing-along...that's definitely on our list.

Not sure if you guys would get into LMA or Indy as much? We did LMA our first trip, but not Indy. LMA was loud (we had ear plugs for ds), but fun - but definitely not very girly.

I have no idea...I will look into it!! Loud my not appeal to DD that much...but who knows...once DD knows about the trip I will see what she is into in terms of shows, since thankfully it seems you don't really need to micro-plan those as much as everything else at WDW.

I just read a post on Theme Park Insider I think it was...about even more attractions at DHS slated to close...I hope that some of them hold out until after our trip. Muppet Vision and One Man's Dream are among them...more things I had wanted to see. Now TSMM is really the ONLY thing and our ADR at Sci Fi....that is really making me want to keep that day. I guess here's where a park hopper would be handy...to just do those and go somewhere else...sigh...but again...I just can't justify the $150 each for that...it would be a lot of money just to be able to go somewhere else for one afternoon...the rest of our days I'm content with one park at a time...but...sigh...

Anyway...I know these are silly things to be complaining about...we are going to WDW after all :)) And I believe we are in double digits...I should start a countdown probably...

IRL...today is Canada Day here up in the great white North...This year is a weird one because July 1 falls on a Wednesday. Some people got Monday off instead to make it an actual long weekend...some people didn't and got a day off today in the middle of the week. My hubby did the best of both and worked from home.

My dog Snickers (the therapy dog) walked in a Canada Day parade with some other St. John Ambulance therapy dogs. It was loads of fun but we were tired!!! We came home and rested up a bit and then got ready to have some friends over for a BBQ....salmon, potatoes, salad...and ice cream for dessert.

Here's a pic of my DD (the one going to WDW with me who doesn't know it) and her friend. My DD is of course the one wearing the Canada Mickey shirt...I wonder if she is getting at all suspicious of the random Disney clothing that keeps showing up in her closet...:))

Anyway....Happy Canada Day to all that celebrate!! And Happy 4th of July to the rest of you who celebrate that since I will probably forget since it isn't anything special up here...other than the fact that my crazy hubby is doing his first half IronMan this weekend! We will be out of town for that and leaving the kids with my parents...which would be awesome except for the fact that hubby likely won't want to do absolutely anything that expends energy at all prior to the race on Sunday....I hope the weather's nice...because then that will mean a lot of lounging by the pool!!! And dreaming about WDW :)

 Nahhhh.....

Anyway....Happy Canada Day to all that celebrate!!

Interesting day for me.
Up at 5am. At work by 6:30. Home by 3:30. Nap til 5:30. Everything's closed, so Pizza for supper, TV and back at work at 10:30pm for the night shift.

Like what? Can you elaborate on what form of energy expenditure he might do?

You sure have an interesting schedule...I'm sure it has its pros and cons....dare I ask what kind of work you do?

You are funny....but seriously...he doesn't want to move at all unecessarily prior to a big race.

$150 each for park hoppers!? Is that really how much they go for nowadays?

I may have exagerated slightly LOL...I just checked...for a 7 day ticket which is what we are getting...it would be $128 total to add park hoppers. But for us, since we'd probably only use it one or twice...I'd rather spend the money on meals or souveniers...but that one HS would be kinda nice to hop but...oh well...maybe next time :)

It's too long and boring to type out exactly what it is that I do.
Not a secret or anything.
But in a nutshell, I work in the Air Navigation industry.
Planes don't stop flying, so we're open 24/7/365.

All I can think of is a quote from A Christmas Story.
"Randy lay there like a slug."

but we are not getting park hoppers...and without TSMM...I just wonder if for US it will be worth it. I know there are loads of people who love this park..but we don't go on ToT or RnRC.
I did get a ADR for Sci Fi...and was looking forward to that but...is it really worth using a whole day's park ticket for a lunch and maybe ONE good attraction?
For us, HS was very much a half day park. With all of the transitions going on and you wanting to skip ToT RnRc and Star Tours there really isn't that much to do except 2 rides and a few meh shows. I'll say that DH and I had a Horrendous experience at Sci Fi (See my first TR for the details there) and It for sure isn't something I would run to.

That being said TSMM is one of my favorite rides at DIsney World. And If you rope drop you can hit it up once on stand by and again using FP.

If you only use it twice that ends up being only $32 per person per use for the extra park time. Also I'll further play devils advocate and say that having Park Hoppers really opens flexibility up (Especially when she won't know you are going till you are there. ) I'd say don't rule them out completely unless you are fully sure you won't use it.

That said, I don't think you will be missing much with HS in its current state.

It doesn't sound long and boring at all!! Well now I know why you were so interested in the Udvar Hazy Air Space Museum in DC....now you really do have to get there...you would love it I'm sure.

"Randy lay there like a slug."

Yes, that will be my DH all day Saturday....and hence...probably me as well. So I hope the weather is sunny and warm and conducive to being a slug beside a pool.

And If you rope drop you can hit it up once on stand by and again using FP.

This is definitely in the plan, so that way we will get to do it at least twice....and maybe more if there's nothing else to do at DHS lol.

I'd say don't rule them out completely unless you are fully sure you won't use it.

I'm tossing around the idea...you're right...it's not AS unreasonable when you break it down that way. BUT the thing is...I think really our DHS day is the only day where I can see really feel like we'd need it....we have plans to go to DTD on our AK day which is the other park that might use it too...I know I can spend full days easily at MK and EP so that won't be a problem. So if we run out of things to do...assuming the weather is good, we can always go to the pool or resort hop or I'm sure we can find other ways to keep busy if we have had enough of DHS and it's still early. That said we may still want to go back for Fantasmic...because a lot of people say that's worth doing...sigh...so many decisions to make lol.

I have the same problem. The $60+ per person if we're only going to use them once or twice is a waste ... why can't park hopper be cheaper???? (I think at DL its only like $40/person ... they should do that at WDW too!)

I wonder if she is getting at all suspicious of the random Disney clothing that keeps showing up in her closet...:))

I'm sure she isn't, she probably just thinks its because you had so much fun last time ... :rolleyes1

Anyway....Happy Canada Day to all that celebrate!!

Happy Canada Day! (I know, I'm a day late ... hopefully you celebrated for 2 days!)
(I'm not doing anything for the 4th of July either ... just lounging around, and probably getting annoyed when I hear fireworks and I'm trying to sleep)

I agree. It's a lot to ask. They should not be so much when you are already paying for park tickets which are obscenely expensive...sigh...or at least while half the park is closed they should make the prices for DHS and AK less money.

Welll...not really. We didn't do much. There were some fireworks last night which scared the crap out of the dog, but nothing special lol. Lounging around is always nice :)

I just wanted to say I am still here and following along but I am so not any expect on anything so I don't have any helpful input!:rotfl:

I love HS but I can see why you are struggling if you aren't going to be doing ToT or RnRC which are the main reason for my love of HS. I don't think I would spend that much time at HS if I didn't do them as I get where you are coming from. I really enjoy Fantasmic so personally I would say if you have the opportunity to see it you should.

But your plans so far sound great! :thumbsup2

Also you DD and your dog are so adorable! :goodvibes

Hey thanks for following along!! I value all opinions no matter the expert level!! Having different people along for this planning ride is so awesome because it makes you think of things you would not have otherwise. I'm glad you can see my struggle lol...even though I know to a lot who like thrill rides it's hard to understand lol. I'm gonna just have to "gasp" be flexible I think that day...see how we feel after we've done what we can at DHS and if we have the energy left to go back or stay for the night. Thanks for the picture love :)

Something else to way would be having that freedom to have a general plan for your last day but leave it pretty open so that you can hop where you feel like you missed stuff earlier. It makes it so that you don't feel as pressured on the other days to have to see everything.

Well now I know why you were so interested in the Udvar Hazy Air Space Museum in DC....now you really do have to get there...you would love it I'm sure.

 Yes, that would explain it.

Being a slug by the pool beats being a slug indoors.

That is a good point too. We had planned on doing another MK day on our last day and then heading back relatively early to the hotel to pack etc. because we have an early departure next day but...it would be nice to have that flexibility...I guess we can add it when we get there if we decide to go with a hopper...as long as we decide at the beginning of the trip....It also might be nice to have it on the day that we are going to MK and getting kicked out early for the MNSSHP....sigh...more thinking to do :)

 Yes, that would explain it.

Yes it sure does!! Well so far the forecast looks nice so crossing fingers and toes that it stays that way.

I personally would keep DHS in the plans. It sounds like it will be a final opportunity to experience a lot of the attractions that are on the chopping block. Plus, there could be some new things added between now and October. I'm very intrigued by the rumors of Anna and Elsa's boutique possibly being added!
