October (Halloween) crowds?

We are contemplating taking our daughter's Make-A-Wish trip in October this year, over Halloween week, or November over Thanksgiving week. Judging by other sites it seems Halloween week is not crowded at all, and Thanksgiving week is packed. Does this seem correct? How about MNNSHP? Is that pretty crowded? And do you have any ideas on the crowds at Unversal during these times?

Easywdw.com will give you crowd calendars for the disney parks. We are going halloween week and right now the crowd predictor says between 4 & 7. The Halloween/christmas parties are a hard ticketed event and only so many tickets are sold. With that however, halloween week will sell out.

In 2012, we went the week before Halloween and the crowds were awesome. We got to see all the beautiful decorations, weather was grear, and my kids were too young to be interested in the Halloween party anyway.

Unless the Halloween party is important to you (and I think it still occurs th week before anyway), I highly recommend the week before.

What others said, easywdw.com is a great resource. I would not say Halloween is "not crowded at all", nor would I say Thanksgiving is "packed". But definitely Halloween will be less busy than Thanksgiving. Our one MNSSHP visit was great, but we went at end of September and it was not busy at all. I would assume the closer you get to Halloween, the more busy the party will get and the more likely it will sell out.

Good question, I've never seen a Universal crowd prediction calendar, but found one. Similar to WDW, Halloween "moderate" and Thanksgiving "busy". But if you can swing staying on property at Universal, their font-of-the-line pass makes the crowds irrelevant.

Thanks! I hope we can go over Halloween week (or the week before). The MNSSHP is not that big of a deal for us...but we may decide to do it so we can say "we did it.".. :) Is Universal Halloween Horror Nights part of admission or is it a seperate ticket? and I probably already know this answer...but is it ok for little kids? (I'm thinking not.)

It is a separate ticket...and very scary! And just a heads up our local schools here by Disney are on fall break Oct. 22-26 so that will make the parks busier. Have a great trip!

I'd much rather go Halloween week than over Thanksgiving. It should be much more crowded at Thanksgiving, crowds in the 8-10 range. Last year, I went 10/21-10/29 and the crowds were low moderate to moderate, 4-7 range. The only day tart was very crowded was when I had to go against the crowd calendars and visit Epcot on a Saturday during Food & Wine. I can tell you that I'll never do that again. Lol. As for MNSSHP, we went on 10/28 and it was a sold out night. It was a little busier than I thought it would be, but we had a great time. I loved the parade and loved Hallowishes! I think the only meet and greet I did was Capt Jack Sparrow, and I don't have kids, so I didn't do any trick or treating. We rode rides and took in the sites. I would definitely go again in a heartbeat.

This year, I'll be there the week before Thanksgiving, before the crowds hit, and we will be going to MVMCP for the first time.

Hope you have a wonderful time if you go!
