Has anyone had any luck getting decent car rental rates for October? I only paid about $130 last year for a 8 days, but so far I'm finding really high rates everywhere I look.

Thanks!!!

I'm in the same boat. I got a teriffic rate for a minivan in Oct 04 and this year it's looking horrible. If anyone has a good rate to pass along please PM me!

I'm in the same boat! I usually book ASAP but the rates are SO high for my week. I'm going Oct 21 thru Oct 29 with no luck at all. Rates in the $300's!

I hope it's just cause it's so early and that they'll come down.

Same thing happened last year to me for my Nov/Dec trip. I tried from January on and it was so high but it very briefly came down in March and I caught it and then it went way up again.

So my advice is to check frequently.

We're also going in October.
Hope this isn't a bad sign of things to come...
I reserved an Equinox (midsize SUV) a month ago with Alamo (walmart codes - BY 430710). The Equinox was listed before the economy, compacts and midsize vehicles, and in fact, was the lowest rate. The total incl. taxes then was $195 for 8 days.

Good thing I booked it...
I checked a week ago (always looking for a lower rate),and the Equinox is now listed with the higher priced vehicles, with a total rate of $210.

Hopefully, as October nears, the rates will come back down, and Alamo will have coupon to use, too.

We'll all keep our eyes open, right?:thumbsup2

Yes, let's all keep our eyes open and if we find anything, post it here since we are all subscribed to this post! I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

I just checked last years ressie, I made it initially Feb. 25 with a decent rate, then it dropped a little on Mar 22nd, which is when I booked the final reservation. I guess I won't give up hope just yet.

Just bumping this way back up to see if anyone has had any luck yet??

Try the National code 5125601.
I had great luck in snagging a mid size for December for a good rate.

We got Emerald Aisle (intermediate) for $150.00 inclusive for six days. It's a little higher than I would have liked, but, I check every few days to see if it goes down and then I'll modify the ressie. If not, I can live with it. Our dates are 10/14 thru 10/20. I booked about a month ago.

Do you know where this code came from? Is it from Costco or Sam's? TIA, I found a good rate with it.

It an American Express code but apparently you don't need to use it for your booking.

I can get is $167 for Oct.16-Oct 23 for and pontiac G6(can't remember the car type). I'm still hoping for much less!
