We are just wanting to sped the 15th which is a Saturday and then the 21st which is a Friday at Universal. The park hours are not up and I see that the 15th is considered "hell week".

When is their Halloween party normally and how early does the park close on those dates?

Halloween Horror Nights is every Thursday - Sunday in October and the weeks where you see a Wednesday scheduled is bad news for the crowd levels. On the nights HHN is staged, the Studios will close at 5pm and then reopen around 6:30 for HHN. The park is swept to make sure all day guests are gone...except for the Stay & Scream area of course.

What is Stay and Scream?

That's when you have a ticket for HHN and are already in Universal during the day, you can stay in the park until HHN starts instead of trying to get in with everyone else outside the park. Gets you a head start on the houses too!

i don't really consider HHN a typical halloween party....

it's heavy drinking, large crowds, scares and a lot of adult fun.

if your kids are little, you won't see much of the props of hhn in the daytime.
they are pretty much covered up.
no guest is allowed to 'dress up' for halloween in costume.
face painting in the park is the exception.

if you do go on the dates you listed above, go early when the park opens and do food break times different from the usually time period.

the studios usually sees the crowds start coming in around 3ish for the hhn event in the evening.
by 4:00 in the studios, it will be crowded for rides.
at this point, leave the studios and continue your fun at ioa until they close.

if you stay ahead of the crowds, you should be fine.
