Is October starting to become crowded since alot of schools do fall break then? Is the weather still good then? Are the pools still open and if so are they heated? Is it too late to get free dining during that time? We would be going the week of October 13-20 this year?

October is crowded due to Columbus day weekend and F&W Festival. Very popular for DVC properties.

Weather is nice in October; you can check weather websites for normal temps, but pools are definately open and most likely do not need to be heated. It can be 80 to 85 during the day, so I would not worry.

FD is not offered right now; you can watch the website to see if it is offered.

A lot of schools in our area did not start until later in August, or aren't starting until September this year. They will NOT be getting a fall break in October. Even if schools do still get the break, they usually have the first or second week off.....so it didn't really change the crowds too much later on in to October.

We go in late September or October every year and we love that time of year....not too hot (although it can get quite humid), and the crowds are not bad at all.

October is a great time to go. It can get crowded since F&W is going on, but IMO, it's not crazy crowded where you wouldn't enjoy yourself. Pools are open and are heated. Free dining is offered for dates in October, but unfortunately is not available for the week you're going. FD is offered for stays 9/30-10/4; 10/19-11/1; 11/9-11/15; 11/23-11/29; & 12/10-12/20 and must be booked by 9/29. Not sure if changing dates is an option for you, but as long as you check in on the last day FD is offered, you will get FD for your entire stay.

FD is not offered right now; you can watch the website to see if it is offered.

Actually, FD is being offered now, with a book by date of 9/29.

I looked at all the DVC resorts (we're DVC owners) yesterday to see if there was anything available for the last 2 weeks of Oct. I read on this forum that everything was sold out and sure enough, all the DVC resorts were full. I'm guessing the parks will be crowded also. October is a beautiful time to go. I love all the fall decor at the parks.

We have been at spring break before and Star Wars Weekend. So when you guys say crowded, is it as crowded as those times? Are there still long wait times for rides?

October is a beautiful time to go. We were there last year from the 23rd to the 30th. The crowds were minimal except on the weekend we noticed an increase in the crowds at Epcot, due to the food and wine festival. It won't be as crowded as spring break or star wars weekend. The weather in October is great too. Make sure you check out MNSSHP at MK and the food and wine festival at Epcot!

We are going October 18-28. School is out on Fall Break for us the 24 and 25. I think alot of the Midwest schools are out that week. And some who are doing all year are out for 1-2 weeks during that time. I went in 2009 in OCtober and the weather was perfect..but on our last day..it was hotter than August..weird. So I guess you never really know. But the crowds were great..we rode Splash Mountain 3 times in a row..and they didn't make us get out of the log(xtra magic hours..but still!) I'm a little worried this year with all the resorts being sold out though....
