October Alamo Rates Up...$319 For a 7 Day Economy Rental!

$319 for an economy for 7 days. $342 for a midsize, and the rates just get even more outrageous from there. (Rates are before taxes & fees!)

I've been checking regularly for October, and the rates seemed to be (slowly)coming down lately, until now...

Luckily, we're booked with Hertz at $200 (total) for a fullsize, but would rather go with an on-site company, as we've always had good experiences with Alamo(Quick Silver).

We're booked with Hertz as well for October. We booked in May, & the rates have gone up a little over $100.00 for the same vehicle we booked since then. Good thing we booked back in May.

Its hard to believe, but the shuttle ride to the hertz lot really doesn't take more then 5 minutes and its pretty painless....

I am going to WDW in Sept. and getting concerned about airfares and car rental rates. Last year during the same period I found less than $100 RT tickets from BIW and close to $100 weekly rentals (for an SUV). I guess that was all an artifact of Katrina. Now I am facing airfares of $170+ and rental rates of $200+.

nope, katrina had nothing to do with it. more people traveling=less seats and cars. Supply and demand...passenger rates are higher then pre-9/11 levels and airlines (such as United) are making profits, supprisingly...
