October 7, 2012 - California Dreamin' Coastal Cruise

Hi everyone, gonna add my details for the roll call, love the idea of fish extenders! What's secret Mickeys?

Hey everyone!

We booked the cruise today and really look forward to our vacation in California! We are from Germany and first-time Disney cruisers. My wife and I have been on a cruise before, but not with Disney, so this will be an exciting and new experience for us.

Prior to the cruise we will stay a few days in Los Angeles and afterwards we will visit Disneyland for five or six days!

Hello,

We're booked on this cruise! It will be me, Jem, my husband Brian and our 2 boys Bobby (8) and Riley (5). We hail from Colorado Springs Colorado and will fly in on the 6th. We're staying at the Crowne Plaza near the port. After the cruise we'll be at the Grand Californian hotel side for 5 fabulous nights! No DVC Villas available. :sad1: Can't wait for the Halloween festivities at Disneyland plus this is our first trip there as a family. I grew up in Florida so went to WDW many many times but only to Disneyland once. Super excited!!! This will be our 3rd Disney cruise and we just got off the Dream in March. Looking forward to meeting all of you!

Welcome to all the newcomers!!

In terms of an onboard meet, if someone wants to organize one, there are lots of places to do so. In the past, I have attended them before the lifeboat drill. This is a good time as there is no need to go retrieve your life jacket from your cabin anymore. If someone wants to do so, they just find a spot onboard and post the info here. All very informal.

I'm excited about the Pixar theme. My kids will enjoy the characters. DH and I would love to see the Pixar artwork, listen to the artists and designers from Pixar and get a sneak peek at new movies. Finding Nemo was the first movie our almost 10 year old saw in a theater so it will be cool to see it in 3D on the ship. Not to mention free lithographs are pretty cool!

Exciting news about our cruise, it will be Pixar-inspired! :) I found this on the Disney Parks Blog, sounds great for me! What do you think?!

I'm excited for it. I'm just glad that the west coast is getting something special, since I've been feeling kind of shafted ever since they decided to move to Wonder to Miami.

In any case, this should probably help Disney in getting the ship booked and filled, since these cruises haven't appeared to be selling as well.

Whew - just returned from a 2 week cruise from LA - Seattle. Alaska was amazing!

Hi everyone, I was wondering if the group meets each other before sailing or do we not really know other dis members? Also, is the SM by family or individual? Thanks! Soooo excited for our first cruise!!!!!:cool1:

We usually meet at the Promenade Lounge at 3PM on the first afternoon to get to put a face to a name. SM can be either way.

I guess I was wondering if there is a set place/time for our group to meet once we r on the ship or do we just do our FE and not put a face to the name. This is all new to me.

Let's go with the Promenade Lounge at 3PM on the first afternoon - before the drill.

So excited we have a theme cruise - looks like fun! Something new to see!

We did the B2B LA-Vancouver and then Alaska cruise and returned last night after a few extra days of fun in Seattle. Had a wonderful time.

It's time to get planning on this one - we realized we are just about 4 months away.

If anyone wants to have a Dis-meet at the DLR the night before - we are game - just let me know.

At lease we are still going on this cruise and we are looking forward to the Disney Museum in San Francisco.

Welcome! I have added you to the roll call.

I'm excited about the Pixar theme, my kids will LOVE having the Pixar characters around. its so much fun to have something just a little special about our trip that we weren't expecting.

That's interesting about the Pixar theme! I think I'll be doing some catching up on the movies before I leave!!
ALittle Pixie Dust - Promenade sounds good to me!! It will be fun meeting everyone! Glad to hear you had a good time on your cruise - Alaska is on my "bucket list"!!
I'm just getting a little excited now!!! :rotfl:

We're joining you guys on this cruise.....when we were on the Inaugural Hawaii cruise in April, I had switched my "dummy" date cruise to the December 2012 Eastbound Panama Canal cruise but when I heard these cruises had become "Pixar" cruises, I couldn't resist....so I called DCL and switched to this cruise...we lost a bit of our OBC due to the new rules but I can't wait to visit San Francisco again and to visit the San Diego Zoo when we dock in San Diego.

We will need to brush up on our Pixar Disney movies before the cruise!!!!

Here's our info...

FE - still deciding
Secret Mickey - no

Is anyone interested in setting up a shared shuttle from the Disneyland area to the port before the cruise? We are a family of 4 and looks like some money could be saved by adding other families to the shuttle.
