October 7, 2012 - California Dreamin' Coastal Cruise

My DH and I are thinking of switching our 8/30/11 alaska cruise to this one, as it has ports he is more interested in, and it is easier for us to get to than Vancouver...
Looks like a good group so far.:thumbsup2

ahh O.K. Do alot of people do BOTH the Fish Extenders and Secret Mickey, or is it usually one or the other??

Almost everyone does FE - not everyone does SM as it requires a little more work (making sure you get some items with a specific person in mind etc) FE gifts can be anything you want to give. They do not have to be expensive. Some people give out a couple FE gifts.

I will find a picture that I took of my last FE gifts I recieved. They can be candy, pens, glow sticks, temp tatoos, etc...just fun to come back to your cabin and find goodies.

Welcome! We hope you join in. We were supposed to be on the 8/30 Alaska with you but postponed it to May 2012.

 Thanks for the welcome, it is almost official, but I am waiting for confirmation from TA to make sure... will update when I know more.
Have a great weekend!:thumbsup2

:cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1: Well, it is official! we are definately on this cruise, can't believe it is 18 months away, but oh well... lots of time to plan, plan, plan. :)
I will PM you with my information!:thumbsup2

I am thinking about switching our cruise from the May 14 LA to Vancouver repositioning cruise to this one. Our current cruise only has one night in San Francisco I would rather do 2 nights there. We planned to visit San Diego prior to our current trip. We mainly want to do the zoo so we would have plenty of time I think to do. Plus the weather seems like it would be better.

We want to do DL prior to the cruise if we go in October we enjoy the Halloween atmosphere. I do believe I have talked myself into moving :rotfl:

We are booked in SPH room on our current cruise but there doesn't seem to be any available so I am debating between an OV on the 2 deck, 9C/B or spend a bit more for an upper floor 9A.

From trip reports I have read and pictures the 2 deck looks like you maybe able to sea dolphins and whales better, but I am concerned about noise from above and being far from the action:goodvibes

Oh - is it that long to go!!! ;) I hate counting in days - it seems so long to go!! Welcome aboard!!! :)

PS I'll be at Disneyland before the cruise too! Maybe even see you there..

:wave2: Hello!

Our neighbors booked this cruise a few weeks ago (we have been on 2 previous cruises with them). I thought I'd look into it since we wanted to take another DCL cruise, but didn't want to do the Caribbean again. I checked and the stateroom (obstructed view verandah) that we always get was still available, so I booked! :cool1: It was a sign!

I had to let it sit with my DH for a little while, he wasn't thrilled with the ports. But he finally came around to my way of thinking ;) as he likes traveling with our neighbors! :worship: We haven't told my 10 year old DD yet that we are going. I'm going to see how long I can keep it a secret :ssst:

Looking forward to getting to know everybody.

We are going to do a couple of days in SoCal before hand -- definitely one day at DL as we've never been!

:yay::yay:My family is booked and I think of it everyday!!! 18 months away seems FOREVER!!!! I have a girl who will be 16 and one that will be 7 and a boy who will be 10. Can anyone tell me how the teen club is for my 16 year old? I'm hoping there is lots of teens on the boat that week. We are in AZ and have fall break that week. We were on the Magic a few years ago and from what I remember the Oceaners Club and Lab were divided up agrs 3-7 and 8-12. Is that right? Will my 7 year old be allowed with my 10 year old in the same club? :cool1:
Myself and my DS who will be 17 then are going on this cruise for his graduation trip. Our special friends scrappycruiser are also going. yipee!!!we are going to fly in on thurs. We have never been to California before so we want to do a taping of a show, city tour, warner brothers backlot tour and Mickey's Halloween party at Disneyland. It will be a marathon and then we can rest and relax on the cruise. nice to meet everyone.

Hello Everybody!

We are booked for this cruise too :cheer2:!
It will be our first Disney cruise, so I very excited about that!

We will be arriving a day before, because we are travelling from the Netherlands. After the cruise we will be spending a day or 4 at Disneyland, we have never been there either. And of course we will be going to take a tour trough LA and visit Universal Studios. My husband hopes that the Anaheim Ducks will be playing at the Honda Center at the time, so we can visit a match.

I know the cruise is still far away, but have you also noticed that there aren't any Port Adventures for San Diego on the Disney Cruise Line site?

Enjoy your weekend!

Kim

Hi Kim and welcome!! :wave2:
This will be our first Disney cruise as well, although I have been on other cruises many years ago!! ;)
I noticed the lack of San Diego tour information as well - in fact I was just looking on the Disney Cruise website and on one part San Diego wasn't even mentioned on the cruise itinerary!! That concerned me a bit as I have never been to San Diego and am looking forward to going there!! I'm sure it's fine - perhaps they are still finalising all the costings etc.
We will be at Disneyland before the cruise. I have been there, but only once, so it will be good to go back. You will love it, I'm sure!
Have fun planning - I know it seems so far away, but the time will go quickly - especially once we get to January!!

Thanks Heather for your warm welcome!

I will certainly keep an eye on the Disney Cruise Line site about San Diego, because we are really hoping we can visit there!

Altough the cruise is still far away, we plan to book our plane tickets in october this year, so we must know by then how long we will be staying, so the planning and reading is allready at full speed :goodvibes.

Welcome!

I think DCL will get some things in a few months from now but there is lots to do there and a lot of ways to get around. Where we dock is pretty close to most attractions. They have a pretty good transportation in the area.

If you have any questions about Dland or LA, just ask away. I live about 20 minutes from both of them - smack in the middle!

We are so excited to be joining you all. We booked this cruise while on the Dream last week. The Dream was great, but i think the Wonder/Magic is more for us. Quick question... when docked in a port overnight do you have to be back on board by a certain time the first night? Thanks!! Can't wait!
