October 7, 2012 - California Dreamin' Coastal Cruise

We are booked on this cruise too. I booked it when the cruise opened up. Then I booked the Oct Hawaii cruise when it opened. Which now means we will be doing b2b cruises. It will be myself, Joyce aka DisneyPata, and my husband Rich. We are in cabin 6566 and have early dining.
We look forward to both of the cruises.:)

Hi everyone...just checking in.....it's been awfully quiet around here.....Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all!

Hello! We finally shared our secret with DD for one of her Christmas gifts. I got a picture of the Wonder under the Golden Gate Bridge from the internet and wrote "We are cruising on the Wonder" "Fall Break 2012." I then had it made into a 30 piece puzzle so she had to put it together to figure it out. She was thrilled with the news and is already making plans and asking questions about The Edge! Can't wait. I could finally get a ticker! :cool1: Just over 9 months now!

hello! We are booked on this cruise, our first Disney cruise!!! It is me, my husband, and three kids: girl(will be 13) boy (will be 10) boy(will be almost 6). Grandparents might be joining us. We live in Hawaii, on the island of Kauai. We have been here 5 years, moving from Oregon.

We will be heading to DL for a few days the week before. I just made reservations at the HOJO, and am excited to start planning. I kept telling my DH that we HAVE to at least do a few days at DL even though the main vacation is the cruise. We were last there in Nov. 2010, and I am so excited to see Cars land, little mermaid, and Star Tours. We prefer to go when it is less busy, but the first week of Oct is our kids fall break so we have to go then.

Looking forward to planning our port days too! Cruisers with kids, please share what you will be up to... looking for good ideas. Thanks!

You'll love Disney Cruises! You sure do need to get a Disneyland trip in! Your so close you might as well go! If you have any questions post em! :)

thanks! I am sure we will have questions!

We have all cruised before, but not on Disney - I am so excited that I was able to talk my DH into trying Disney. I have been reading the boards to get an idea of what will be different or new to do on the Disney ship.

Looks like my in-laws will be joining us for sure, I am booking them today!

Welcome to everyone! So excited you are joining us.

We haven't really thought about this cruise except that we will be going to see the Disney Museum.

We are currently concentrating on our B2B in May and trying to figure out everything we need to book.

Hope everyone has recovered from the Holidays and are enjoying the new year!

Happy New Year to everyone!!! Good to see there are a few more joining us!
And we can now say we are cruising this year...!!!! :thumbsup2
We are also spending 3 days in DL prior to the cruise - I am looking forward to that! It's been a few years since I've been to DL.
I have a couple of questions which I hope someone may be able to answer.
Do we leave/return from/to San Pedro? I am looking at transfers and was wondering where I would be going to/from. Does anyone recommend any particular co for transfers from DL?
Do they do on board checkin for flights on disembarkation on these cruises?
I think that's it for now, but I'm sure there will be more questions to come!!!
Thanks in advance for your help. :flower3:

Yes, we do leave/return to San Pedro. You can use Super Shuttle to get to the port but there are different options. Are you staying at a DL resort? If you need any numbers - let me know and I will get them for you. You can also book online.

I do not believe you can do flight check in onboard per se - you can purchsse internet time to do it but I do not believe they do it at Guest Services.

Hope that helps!

Thanks for your help!! :flower3:
I will be staying at the Park Vue in Anaheim, so in the DL vicinity. I'll look into the Super Shuttle.

Hello Everyone!

We just booked this cruise :) Our school district just released a new calendar for the 2012-2013 calendar year and it now includes a fall break. Fortunately fall break lines up perfectly with this Pacific Coast cruise.

We went on the Dream in November and we fell in love with it! We loved almost every minute of that cruise. I hope we feel the same about the Wonder (although we will miss Castaway LOL).

We live in AZ so we are excited we can just drive over to port and save on airfare. Eliminating the flight, rental car, juggling carseats etc, is going to eliminate so much of the stress so we can just enjoy a nice, relaxing cruise!

Well, it looks like we'll be staying on this cruise after all. When I originally booked, I assumed this cruise would be during my kid's October break. When they released the school calendar for 2012, it turned out that their break was a week later, so we had hoped to switch to a cruise out of LA in March 2013. Then Disney decided to move the Wonder to Miami, so there went that plan. I really, really dislike having the kids miss a week of school, but at this point I think that's what we're going to have to do.

I'm still going to be watching and waiting for Disney to decide where the Wonder will be in Fall 2013. But for now, we are tentatively planning on staying with this cruise.

Welcome! I hope you will love the Wonder as well - just keep in mind that she is 12 years old and does not have all the bells and whistles of the Dream. I have been on her 6 times and just love her. The ship is of course smaller and pretty easy to get around. So glad you are joing us! Please look at page 1 and send me your info so I can update the page.

:cool1: Glad you are staying with us. I don't know when they will announce the Fall unfortunately, after telling us they were going to announce 2013 last week and then just dumping it on us with not much notice this week - you never know. I am bummed they are taking our ship already :(

We used to take my daughter out of school for vacations - but she was in a private school and they let her take her work with her. I am not sure how your school works. I hope they are accomodating! Now she is home schooled so she just takes her school work with her.

We just got off the MR 1/29 with my dh, 5 of our kids, my dad, mil,fil and sil- first cruise for all of us, and had a blast! We booked again for 2/1/2013, but that feels sooooo far away. DH said he would book us a weekend at the spa in Anchorage this spring, to which I replied " for a little more money, we could do the Wonder this fall." Being Alaskans we usually try to head for thesun when we leave, but we are actually very excited to have some time to explore the ship and do grown things, which we couldn't last time, having so much family with us. Sooo, I've been told to call in the morning and make it offical! 8 months is so much better than 12!

Hello Everyone!!

I just booked this cruise for our family!! The hubby & I are soo very excited!! This will be our second cruise, our first was Oct 2011 Mexican Riviera on the Wonder and we just loved it so much we had to book another voyage on her before they take her away from LA! :sad1:

As of right now, this trip is a surprise for our 10 yr old son...altho, I read thru the previous posts and I REALLY like the idea of making it a birthday present for his upcoming birthday in June. That was the cutest idea I've ever heard of, making a puzzle out of it!! I may just have to borrow that idea if you wouldn't mind? ;)

We had the time of our lives on the first cruise, so all of you first time cruisers are in for a HUGE TREAT!! :cloud9: It is absolutely incredible!! I have a feeling it's going to become a tradition for our family!! Well, if I have anything to say about it it will!! :rotfl:

As far as port adventures, we have a little one traveling with us...our baby girl will be 31 mos at cruise time, so we will be doing kid friendly excursions. If you go directly to The Aquarium of the Bay's website, they offer a GREAT DEAL on a three attraction pass that gets you into the aquarium, Ripley's, and the wax museum!! Here's the link if ya wanna check it out! http://www.aquariumofthebay.org/products/detail/420 That will be what we are doing as well as this http://sanfrancisco.ridetheducks.com/home.aspx which I hear is a load of fun!!

We live in So Cal, have annual passes to Disneyland, and go as often as is possible...MUCH too often in the eyes of some people! :sad2: I say, you can never have too much Disney in your life!! :thumbsup2

I can't wait to meet everyone onboard!!
