October 7, 2012 - California Dreamin' Coastal Cruise

Greetings everyone,
My DH, my DD6 and I are in the process of signing up for this cruise. We live on a small island off the Southern California coast, so our trip to the port will be a quick one-hour ferry ride. Catalina Island is a wonderful little side trip for those of you planning pre and post cruise stays in Southern California.
We just returned from the Alaskan cruise and I can't believe it will be a year and half before we get to get back aboard the Wonder.
We didn't do the FE on the Alaskan, which was our first Disney cruise, but would love to take part in it this time.
Kim, my stepson lives in the Netherlands, where are you?
Looking forward to getting to know everyone as we look forward to our cruise.

Hi catislander!:wave2:

Welcome to our little party! Your island home sounds lovely - I have heard about it, and my brother has visited when he worked on a cruise ship that went there!
I like the sound of your ferry ride to the wharf!! Much better than a 12 hour plane ride!! :lmao:

And hi to smmast as well!!
We are gradually growing!

Hi Catislander,

We live in Helmond, that is nearby the City of Eindhoven in the South of the Netherlands. Were does your stepson live?

Have a great weekend!

Kim

Thanks for the warm welcome.
Kim, Dennis and his wife Gemma live in Enschede, about half an hour from the German border.
We'll get our confirmation this week from the travel agent, we're hoping to be in the same stateroom we had on the Alaskan cruise.
Is anyone planning any other trips between now and our cruise?
We have three two-night trips to Disneyland planned, using our DVC points at the Grand Californian. Next spring we'll be visiting my MIL in Texas for a week and I think we'll be doing a short getaway for our 10-year anniversary in April 2012.

Welcome! I have been to your island many tims. I love it there!

Thanks!

Thanks to my awesome TA.... DH and I are in! We're so excited! :cool1:

We have the same AWESOME :yay: TA and DH & I are now in, too.:banana::banana: We realized it's probably been at least 22 years since we've been in San Diego, so are hoping there will be some fun shore excursions there. We'll be after the DCL Groupies to come meet us in SF. Although we live about 40 miles away, I actually haven't spent much time in the city. Ooooh, just thought – maybe they'll do a wine country tour – I can sip and leave the driving to someone else.

Awww..you guys are so sweet! Glad you will be joining us for the cruise!

Not sure what we are gong to do in port but looking forward to it!

Just figured this thread deserved a little bump!

I hope everyone has had a great summer. I just returned from our first family trip to DisneyWorld. We had a fantastic 8 day/7 night stay at the Beach Club, but now I'm suffering from an extreme case of PDD (Post Disney Depression) so I'm hoping that planning for this cruise now will be the cure ;) Only 1 year, 2 months and 3 days left (just made my ticker, can you tell? :rotfl:)

It's been over a month since we transferred our reservation from a March MR cruise to this one.

We did MR in March of 2011, and this cruise matches up with Fall Break for our kids, so we changed it.

An interesting note, DCL is announcing this morning that they have added a second Hawaii cruise...and it leaves on Oct 14, 2012. So after we get off the boat, their next stop is Hawaii.

I'm looking forward to the trip. I haven't been to San Fran in years (20+), and I grew up in San Diego, so I plan on having a blast. Hopefully DW and DDx2 have fun, too.

DD#1 will have just turned 13 a couple of days before departure, and DD#2 will be 11. They both loved cruising this spring and can't wait.

Cheers,

Ugh! Bad news for us. My kids' school district finally released their 2012-13 schedule and their October break is a week later, so it looks like we're going to have to change our cruise again. :( Looks like we're going to try shooting for March 2013 now.

Enjoy San Francisco for me :'(

Sorry :( I hope you find a cruise that fits your schedule but we will miss not getting to meet you!

We've decided to switch our reservation to the Oct.14 Hawaiian. Enjoy your cruise everyone.

Well, we're undera year to go now.

We've added a Vow Renewal package to our reservation, too...so that should be fun.

Two cabins booked, with a bunch of people...and the possibility of more cabins as family decide if they want to come or not. Gonna be a fun time.

Is it 2012 yet? :cool1:

Hey everyone!

My wife, Melissa, & I booked this cruise while onboard the Disney Magic on the 10/8 Eastern. This will be our 6th DCL vacation! I'm a teacher & Melissa works with special needs children as an instructional assistant.

There is about a 10% chance that our plans change, mostly depending on our school schedule which won't come out until the spring. So fingers crossed!! We really want to do this itinerary!

Here is our info:

Dis name:ImagineerM & ImagineerM's Wifey
Names of travelling (ages of kids too): Josh (30) & Melissa (29) (no kids!)
Cabin Number: 7128
Early/Late dining:late
FE? (Yes/No) Yes
Secret Mickey Interest? (Yes/No) no thanks
Celebrating: Fall break

We're on our Fall break too. We'll be just down the hall from you. Welcome aboard!
