October 7, 2012 - California Dreamin' Coastal Cruise

I just got a quote for this cruise and it seems like a pretty good deal. I don't know if my hubby will be able to get the time off. My sister and brother's family are looking to join us so may just go with my boys. I have till Friday so we'll see how it all pans out.

The discounts are AMAZING!!! I've never seen them this low. We got the military discount. Yeah!!!

Welcome! Please let me know what you decide about the FR by August 15th :)

Welcome!

The SM is like a Secret Santa. You are assigned a fellow cruiser to buy gifts for. It should be 3 gifts - 2 small ones and 1 slightly larger - we will have a reveal the last day at sea where you will come and identify yourself to your SM. The gifts are left in their FE or with their room steward for thier cabin. Total spent should be in the $25-$30 range. There will be a questionairre to fill out with your info. Hope this helps!

Welcome!

Welcome! If you would like your info on the roll call - just send me a PM and I will get it updated! Thanks! :)

Welcome1

It is usually semi-formal night which if we go by the schedule posted awhile back would be the first sea day.

Welcome!

so how does the fe work? Do we just go around different cabins that have bags hung on doors, or are we assigne a specific cabin like the SM? I would like to participate in te FE. It sounds like fun.

I have 2 questions for now: LOL

1. what pier does the ship dock at in SF?

2. How many formal nights are there on this cruise?

Thanks

does anyone know if this cruise will still have a Pirate Party, or is it being replaced by the Pixar Dance Party intead?

I can answer one question...when they did the repo last year and stopped in SF it was at Pier 35 (I think)...walking distance to Pier 39 and also the pier where you leave for Alcatraz.....

Where did you hear of the Pixar Dance Party? I would think they would do the Pirate party regardless since it's usually the same night as the fireworks. Hmmmm....maybe I'll give DCL a call tomorrow.

DH and I are doing this Disney Pixar cruise.....it's our second Disney Cruise.

I want to participate in the FE group for this cruise. On our first Disney Cruise in 2005 they didn't do this.

We just booked this cruise and are excited to be joining the last Coastal Pixar cruise.

We live in San Francisco so had debated back and forth about the cruise. In fact, they came out with a great military rate on the 9-7 NY to Canada so we booked that cruise and will be heading to New York with friends. This morning we decided to go ahead and book this cruise too.

If we can answer any questions about our city, let me know.

John Lassater was on our last cruise (Maiden Voyage of the Fantasy) and did a special talk to the Castaway Gold and Platinum guests. It was so cool and all about Pixar and its history. It would be so cool if he was on this cruise.

Hi Val! You're on the Transatlantic in May 2013 right? We cancelled that cruise and booked this one and 3 more for next summer back to back to back. How many cruises have you done this year? So Jealous! My original name was jemandbrian but I could not post or reply to anything so just came up with a new Dis name. Did you get the military rate for this cruise? Welcome aboard!

We just went to Alaska 7/9-16 so are excited to return to the Wonder so soon! An amazing opportunity, since we had already planned to be at DLR arriving 10/14 (no joke!) Couldn't pass it up! We picked our room so we could have the same stateroom attendant again :)

Thanks for the Hi! Yes, we are booked on the 5-13 TA and the first Med cruise.

We did the Hawaii cruise in April and the MR in November. I am actually kinda feeling guilty about taking this cruise. I am justifying it by the fact the military rate was just so good and we don't have to fly anywhere to get on the ship. Also, most likely won't spend much money on excursions. In fact, when we get to San Francisco we might just go home for the day. I think it will be a real lazy time for us. I'll be sad to see the Wonder leave the west coast.

Welcome aboard fellow Hawaiian cruisers!!!!!!!!

Since you live in San Francisco, I was hoping that maybe you advise me if our plan for Day 1 is too adventurous? I am travelling with my Mom who is a senior.

Since we did the repo last year, we have already taken an amazing city tour, (crossing the Golden Gate Bridge, saw Twin Peaks, etc), saw Alcatraz, Sausilito (sp?), the Walt Disney Family Museum and took a night tour of Chinatown. I am trying to plan a day for my Mom and I so that we can ride a cable car, see Lombard Street and shop at the Disney Store and if there is time, visit the Britex Fabric Store on Geary Street (I think it is near the Disney store) before heading back to walk around Fisherman's Wharf.

How would be the best to go about getting these things accomplished in a day so that we are not exhausted for our Carmel & Monterey excursion the next day?

Thanks in advance

Here is the Wonder going under the Golden Gate from the Repo cruise last year. It would make a good magnet!

wondergoldengate.jpg

That would make a great magnet. When we came in under the Golden Gate for the repo cruise this May, you couldn't see the bridge for the fog. I do have some partial pix of the bridge, and one taken of the underside - but no pic like this one. Sigh! Des, do you remember if the entire bridge was visible while we were there? I don't think it was.
