October 25, 2014 Fantasy Western "The Not So Scary Halloween Cruise 2014"

:scratchin Sounds like it's going to be crowded :crazy2: On our last cruise the only time we had to share a port was in Cozumel.
Dena

That's one of the reason that Dis group excursions can be the way to go. If we can get a beach like Nachi all to ourselves like some of us did in Cozumel for the Halloween 2010 cruise, we can avoid crowds and have a great opportunity to hang out with some of the people that we've spent so much time getting to know online.

.... So it looks as if it's us and the Freedom in Falmouth....

I hope this is right. Although the Rccl NOS pax may be pissed. but ....

Thanks for the input. I emailed DCL and others about this. I feel this is a major oversight in all the cruise line scheduling. This kind of thing should never happen. I have never seen this occur before.

I haven't heard back yet, but will keep everyone posted, if I ever hear back.

Thanks for the info. I feel sooo much better, as I knew, no vessels tendered.

:)

DCL replied to my email inquiry with the following.

"In reviewing the itinerary for your cruise scheduled to sail on October
25, 2014, Disney Fantasy will be visiting Falmouth, Jamaica, on October
29, 2014. The ship will dock at the Port of Falmouth pier, located
within Oyster Bay on Jamaica's north coast. Guests will be able to walk
directly off the ship to restaurants, bars, shops, duty-free, etc."

Sounds good for us.

:stir: I don't know about anyone else, but I am so ready to go on vacation.::yes::
I have 1 yr 4 months to go though.

Yeah ... this whole cruise thing is waaaay into the future, which sucks.

I've been trying to live vicariously thru the disboards, but .... It's not working.

I may need to book a VGT soon. :goodvibes They are all over the place. ;)

We are leaving for Niagara Falls on Tuesday, so I have a respite to look forward to. :) No work :thumbsup2

It's not a cruise, but it will involve water, and potentially I'll get wet at the falls, but hopefully we will have a choice onboard in the fall of 2014, whether to be wet or not. ;) Some sailing don't. :worried:

:goodvibes

I get on the :surfweb: everyday, reading the Disboards. I go and look at the food pics, or the photo of the day. Hoping to go to my happy place. But then anywhere on a cruise ship is my happy place:laughing:.

Will have to admit, a little :scared1: about going on the Fantasy. So much bigger than the Magic. Looking forward to a different experience :hyper:. The cruise can't get here fast enough for me.

It's not much bigger, as you are probably expecting it to be. The public spaces like the pools, dining rooms, atrium, etc. are really not much bigger. It's a little longer and a few more decks (mostly stateroom decks) but I think it's a little underwhelming in size, especially when you consider the size of most of the newer ships out there...

It's really quiet here lately... I hope everyone is doing well. Have a great weekend!

We just got back from our Vegas vacation about a month ago and we really had a great time. We love staying at the resorts out there and I love the shows and of course the shopping:lovestruc Work always picks up for me during the summer since I work at a college in the Admissions dept. and our commercial real estate business is doing very well and keeps me busy. We are about to sign a 20 year deal with McDonald's for one of our properties which is a blessing.

I am trying to distract myself from the cruise by vacationing a bit before we head out to Florida. Our next vacation will be at Disney's Aulani on Oahu in October 2013. Right now we are just trying to stay cool with the current heat wave in California. Our temps range from 109 to 110 until next Friday.

My father's family is from Colorado from the small towns Of La Veta and Walsenburg and I have been mainly consumed with worry about the fires and my family there. They finally have the fires contained and my family won't have to evacuate their homes. I also have 39 acres of land in the Silver Spurs Estates that was close to burning up that we were watching as well. But as my husband and I said, we were more worried with our neighbors and their homes. Hopefully, they can put these darn fires out soon.

We've been trying to occupy ourselves with trips as well :). We went to Sanibel and Captiva Islands for a little getaway last week, and have been doing day trips canoeing, going to the beach, etc. We are planning a last-minute trip for August for our anniversary, but are torn between an RCCL cruise (we've never been on anyone but Disney so we are hesitant) or a trip to the Keys. We love the Keys, but the drive is a little stressful, so DH is leaning towards the cruise. I just had an interview for a government job though, so if I get that job before August we are not going anywhere LOL. More money saved for the big cruise next year :). We moved our dummy cruise to a cruise in February on the new and improved Magic. I am excited about that one too, but it's still seven months away. I wish DCL's prices were a little better in the coming months... I found their prices for even September to be a little out there. No last minute DCL cruises for me I guess :(.

We were going to have a couple of mini vacation weekends. Was suppose to go meet son's ex in Arkansas the end of June to pick up our grandkids from Iowa, but they decided not to come :sad1: to Texas this summer. Sooo Alex will not be going on the cruise with us. Unless something drastic changes between now and then. And then the middle of August we were going to meet again in Oklahoma to give them back to their mom. But that isn't happening. And to do anything else just keeps getting pushed away. Life keeps handing us lemons , and we are trying like heck to make
lemon-aid :rolleyes2. So will have to have a vacation through other peoples threads and posts.

I'm so sorry Dena :(. Our summer was like that last year. Everything that could have gone wrong did. We thought it would never end... made for a depressing summer. But then the clouds parted, and everything was right in the universe again :). Just keep your chin up, and if you want to let off some steam, us Dis'ers we would be happy to listen and help cheer you up. :flower3:

Hi!

I hope you all don't mind a newcomer! :)

It's been a while since I've been on the Dis and could remember my old login and it seems not to exist any more so I have a new account. We've been to WDW more times than I can count and are so excited to try our first cruise!

We just booked this cruise in cabin 7648. Our group is myself (Courtney) and my husband Ryan. Also our kids who will be the following ages at the time of cruising... Nolan (10), Simon (9) and Lauren (6).

ETA: we are from CT and we have the early dinner seating

My ILs will be sailing as well, in a cabin next door, but not adjoining. They have surprised us with this cruise as a gift. :goodvibes

I've read through this entire thread and it seems like a great group! Thank you for allowing me to join. The Fish Extenders look like so much fun too. I'm excited and wish this cruise wasn't so far off. I want to go now!! :goodvibes

:) Courtney

Welcome back to the Dis and to our thread! I've added your family to the roll call on post one.
