October 25, 2008 Halloween on the High Seas (2)

We are in room 8014. Right next to Cindy I believe.

Just can't wait. :cheer2:

Yes, we seem to be neighbors on the ship! If you see us coming and going please stop and say "HI". :thumbsup2 I hope my family isn't to noisy for you... with 4 kids you never know what will happen! ;)

Do you plan on spending time in the adult areas (clubs, Cove Cafe, pool, Serenity bay) or is this your FAMILY vacation that you spend the majority of time together (family beach on CC, pool time all together, etc...)

We HOPE to spend equal amount of time doing 'family things' and 'adult things'. We have booked Palo Brunch & Dinner for some Mom and Dad time. We also try and make after dinner 'Mom and Dad time' and send the kids off to group. We love to get drinks and sit on our deck. Some times we go to the adult only shows. On CC we will be hanging out at the family beach. As the kids get older they want to be on the beach and in the water...not in group.

Do we have a cabin assignment for VACruisers yet?

Lynne,

No one has heard from them at all lately! Getting a bit worried that maybe they are not going on the cruise.....hmm....may have to PM them and see what's what.

Just have to add that this has been a GREAT football weekend!!!

Penn State beat Illinois

Redskins beat Dallas (WHOOHOOOHOOOHOHOHHOHOHOOOOO!!!  )

AND

Kyle's (disney4dana) school won their football game

Ah, life is good.......:cloud9: :cloud9: :cloud9:

I wouldn’t want someone to be reading the posts a month after the cruise, and hear about something that they could no longer take advantage of.

That would be us, circa 11/05. Cruised a 4 night 10/2/05. Didn't rebook onboard. DW was so nice to console me over the discounts lost. :sad1:

We booked this cruise 2/07, within a week of things coming out. We put in a request a quote card the first full day of our 10/08 Halloween cruise, just to see what the price was. It was cheaper for us to keep our ressie made 2/07, then to cancel it and rebook with the discounts, etc. Now, that might not always be the case. It just worked out that way for us, probably because we booked so long ago. What we did learn from experienced folk: get to the rebooking desk early in the cruise, as it gets very crowded towards the end. Don't be afraid to request a quote via the cards. If necessary, write your specific requests on the card (we like certain specific rooms).

In discussions during our travels this weekend, we did decide to request a quote for the 10/24/09 Eastern, as the prices for our preferred categories (6 or 7) look attractive. But, we haven't been to our beloved Beach Club since 2003. And, no full week at WDW since then (a 4 night CR with MK view getaway in 2006). Might be back on land next year.

You know... as much as we love the adult areas... We also like the family ones... We get a kick out of watching the children have so much fun...

We do plan on doing the shows at Rockin' Bar D (anyone else want to join us for a group party????)

Let us know what time to meet you there!

Lynne,

They (VACruisers) never responded to the PM I sent everyone in my FE group... Did you send a PM Suzie?

I also never heard from hockeychic... Anyone have an update on them?

Great news, Lynn! You are now part of the Crazy Corridor Club!

We're in cabins 6130 and 6131 with lots around (you're right next door to StaciJo's inlaws - 6139, and Aunt Lynne and her group - 6134 and 6135!!). Lots of DISERS right there in that corridor! How fun this will be!!!

Not sure what magnet things you're looking for.....keep talking and maybe I can pick up on it. :goodvibes

Hi Jenn

I have sent lots of PMs to Hockeychic and VACruisers but have heard nothing back. I am now thinking that they are no longer cruising with us but it is difficult as they still might be but may not have computer access or something like that.

I need to know what you all feel about additional participants joining the FE exchange at this point in time. I know we had a deadline of September 1st, but there are one or two people who joined the cruise / DIS after this date and have expressed an interest. I would hate to disappoint anyone but I am also aware that those of you who have already bought / made gifts may not have enough for additional members.

I am therefore asking you to PM me with your thoughts on this dilemma. I will go with the majority decision.

(One possible solution would be to put them in the groups where HockeyChic and VA Cruisers are included, just in case they are no longer on the cruise.)

Thanks for your help on this!
:goodvibes

1)What is your favorite adult drink and why? 2)Do you plan on trying the drink of the day or do you just stick with your fav?

Bit late with this one - been working the weekend - my favourite adult drink is a frozen strawberry dacquiri! There is also a cocktail called a "chocolate banana" which is really yummy. I am also partial to a glass of pinot grigio with dinner.

I would try the DOTD, but only if it is fruity and rum or kahlua based - I do not really many other spirits.

Do you plan on spending time in the adult areas (clubs, Cove Cafe, pool, Serenity bay) or is this your FAMILY vacation that you spend the majority of time together (family beach on CC, pool time all together, etc...)

I would imagine we will spend most of the time with the family, but if the kids want to do their own thing we may spend time in the adult areas in the evenings. On CC we will base ourselves on the family beach, but may cycle over to Serenity Bay on our bike ride (if you can do that).

and I just realised......

WE ARE NOW INTO THE "TEENS" - LESS THAN 20 DAYS TO GO!

Hi Jenn

I have sent lots of PMs to Hockeychic and VACruisers but have heard nothing back. I am now thinking that they are no longer cruising with us but it is difficult as they still might be but may not have computer access or something like that.

I pm'd VACRUISERS (saw some of their other posts and siggy's say they are still going?!) and emailed Hockeychic from here so we will see. I can't imagine not being on here at least once a day to find out what my cruise is doing!:rotfl:

In a rush, so just time for the quickie QOTD:

Do you drink coffee? If you do, will you try the coffees at Cove Cafe? (I've heard they have nice ones there!)

I am drinking coffee more than I ever have in my whole life! Ed's been out the door way early lately so it's been me, me and me getting the kids up in the morning and Tori ready for school. I am NOT a morning person and this just kills me!!!! So, every morning is a cup of hot coffee with either vanilla creme or chai in it. Yum....

I'm going to try to get over to CCafe to get one just because I never have and then will be able to say I have done it. Plus it's one of the Adult areas I've never been to and want to check off my list!

Everyone have a great day and hope to see you all on chat tonight!!!

This is our 3rd Disney Cruise, but we have only recently discovered the disboards. Wish I'd found you guys last month. We would still like to attend the meet and greet. Seems like a great opportunity for us all to meet new friends. I have been trying to add us to the "roll call", but I don't have enought posts to pm the host. Can we just show up at the meet and greet since we know about it? I know the TOT is limited to those who previously signed up. Let me know if we're "crashing" a party by showing up at the meet and greet Day 1.:)

We do quite a bit of adult time while on the cruise. But am in agreement with Dana that it is a 3 part cruise: 1 family, 1 adult & 1 kids.

My DH loves to go to the Cove Cafe in the morning before us girls are up. That way he is not bothering us in the cabin. Thank goodness. Plus I know where to find him. I am not a coffee person, but bring on the Pepsi.

Serenity Bay is a must. We usually walk out there, have a drink, and then ride the tram back. But we are mostly on the family beach with the girls.

I like to do the clubs at night, but since we have late dining, after my DH eats he is tired and ready to go to bed. But I told him he has to nap in the afternoon so we can stay up this time.

Well, only 3 more Monday mornings to go until we leave :woohoo:

Hey! I resemble that remark! All the way from 6124! :cool1:

I absolutely detest coffee... love the smell of it brewing though and Nelson LOVES coffee so I will probably be in there with him.... I wont even drink or eat anything mocha - that is how much I hate the coffee taste....

More stuff that I managed to get done over the weekend:

Picked up my dress for formal night (actually just the top ~ Its one of those make a match seperates from davids bridal and I already had the bottom)

So now I am all set for both semi-formal and formal nights. Nelson is renting a tux onboard...

For anyone still looking for dresses they had some great right off the rack dresses at Davids Bridal... they ranged from $79 - $135....

This is one of the ones I bought:

http://www.davidsbridal.com/social_dresses_detail.jsp?stid=3275&prodgroup=214

So unless you plan on taking pictures with me, dont buy it! hehehe j/k :goodvibes

Also, my passport came in the mail on Saturday... (even though I was prepared to sail with my bc and license... It is good to have it)

Have a great Monday folks!

:goodvibes

I have mixed feelings only because I think I've seen several new families join in recently. If you open it up for one, you should open it up to all newcomers and I am not prepared for additional cabins.

We also have the same issue with TOT - limited number of bags. While I hate to penalize those who didn't know about the boards earlier, we have to remember why we set the deadlines and hope that everyone else understands.

Just my opinion - take it or leave it! :confused3
