I'm in the same boat as you. They seem really expensive for what you're getting, but we were lucky enough to find someone that is willing to split the cost of one on this trip, so we'll give it a shot. Unless it impresses the hell out of me in October, it's not likely we'll do one again.

Well with that I only wish the best for you, But I would really would appreciate if you would post an after report of how the Cabanas worked out for you..

I am going to have to do it once to get it out of my system, Now if they were Air conditioned... Hmmmmmmm

We are doing it through DCL. I am a big chicken to book non DCL. We did it in Alaska and it was wonderful. All the reviews I have read have been very positive!!!

:thumbsup2 We booked our excursions through DCL. I am afraid of getting back to port late with a non-DCL tour and being "that couple" waving good bye to the ship. I've seen a few youtube videos and the captains did NOT go back for them. :confused3

Check out this poor couple . . . Couple Misses Cruise Ship

So please if any one wishes to share, what excursions are youall doing???

We have not even thought about it, Thinking about the Mountain hike on St Martin but have not even though about it really..

We are sticking to the beach this time. The French Riveria on St Maarten and the Turtle cove & Honeymoon beach on ST Thomas!!

I'm really not trying to be a Debbie Downer, however I just posted this on another thread, and thought it was only fair to share with my cruise mates.

Castaway Cay is the most challenging port for the captain of the Fantasy. Several factors affect the ability to dock including waves, wind, and current.

Here is a link to a poll discussing when the "ship" was unable to dock at CC. Keep in mind the larger ships are more difficult to dock IN WIND due to the sail effect.

Unfortunately October doesn't fare well. Although last year, which I believe most of this data reflects, I hope was an unusual year with all the storms.

Here is the full thread link with the poll.

We were unable to dock at Castaway on our one sailing. Quite windy, and some showers. The Captain :sail: just found a sunny spot for us to sail around in that day, and we got into Castaway the next day. Just switched out our sea day for us. Aren't they wonderful!pixiedust:

Also please tell me this is / will not occur on our sailing. :goodvibes

I'm not on Facebook. What am I missing, if anything?

TIA

We aren't on FB either, so don't know what we're missing, if anything. I sure love :disrocks:this forum and when we cruise other lines, I go to that other on line place.

I surely have an opinion about how some things have been shaping up as far as boards and/or FB, but that's better left alone. We all have opinions.
Didn't bother to post there.

Soooo..... for anyone PIF, I was wondering.....

does your cruise reservation home page or activities page say this....

Begin online check-in on July 22, 2012.
Start booking onboard fun and Port Adventures on July 22, 2012. Your vacation must be paid in full.

I'm particularly questioning the "paid in full" part. Even though have been paid in full since April, it still says this. Does the system not know that I'm paid in full? Does everyone's say that?

Thanks

Mine says the same thing. You can call DCL and verify if you feel you need to but it always does this for some reason.

You aren't missing anything really besides discussions about work, family and red dresses.

I don't work or wear red dresses, so I guess I'm OK.:lmao:

Too funny. I find the Dis easier to follow. I can just read in order....It's hard to teach this old dog anything new!!!

OMG I died laughing!!!! with Kevin's luck this would totally happen to us, he had his bag stolen 2 days before our cruise 2 yrs ago and since we had to get him a replacement passport from the French Consulate in Miami we couldn't go our cruise.

I do agree about doing excursions via Disney.. We did the Submarine ride.. The sub operator had a delay and then a motor in the Chase ship had issues,, So we were real late in getting back... (15 mins before the ship was to leave) And we had a 30 min bus ride back to the ship... The Disney rep announced to everyone not to worry, they are holding the ship for us.. If we had been on that excursion on our own, I can not tell you how bad I would have freaked out on that 30 min bus ride..

We can't book excursions yet. However, I was wondering in somebody who can book now would do me a favor. Look at the St. John Eco Hike and see what times are listed for doing this excursion. I was wondering if we had time to do it and still have time to do some shopping in Port before or after it.

I have a friend that lives in St. Thomas and want to meet up for coffee, but my daughter, who is an Environmental Science major, wants to do this excursion. I know I can find in in several weeks, but just trying to do some early planning. Thanks.
