Hi all,
I have been busy at work and not had a lot of time to get on the boards due to this and other family commitments. How are you all? We are great and really looking forward to the trip.
We have noticed that Mazatlan may not be on the itinerary. I doesn't bother us but what is everyone planning to do in Cabo? We are still deciding on what activities we would like to do. I guess I will have to do a little more research.
Okay I better get going Hannah has a birthday party to attend, Dave is flying and I have to get the family ready for two parties tonight....
Take Care,
Becky
Good to hear from you. I know what you mean about busy. I dont know if I have been coming or going since coming back from the Panama Canal Cruise.
At this moment in time, there is no telling what our itinerary will look like. The last time I looked, we were still listed as alternate itinerary C, which does include Matzatlan. As far as I am aware at the moment, the last cruise with two stops in Cabo is the April 17th holiday cruise. I am hoping for two stops at Cabo though. Matzatlan has never appealed to me and I loved Puerto Vallarta and cabo on the Panama Canal Cruise. The day in Cabo is really short as it is still a long way from there to Los Angeleso getting a second day there, would be a definite bonus.
I intend to do the Dolphin Trainer for a Day at Cabo. I had a look at the facility there when I was at Cabo during the Panama Canal Cruise and was very impressed. The facility is very close to the tender port. Graham is probably going to do a snorkelling excursion in the Sea of Cortez. Two of our table mates did this one on the Panama Canal Cruise and loved it. I would not be allowed to do this. Apparently there can be issues with jelly fish on that excursion and it is not recommended for people who are allergic to bee and wasp stings, which I am.
If we do get a second day in Cabo, we will just do what we did do the last time round and have a wander arround. There is a craft market right by the tender port. Within easy walking distance of the port there is a shopping mall. This is fairly upscale, but nice to get out of the sun for a while. There are also loads of bars and restaurants around the marina. The water in the marina is very clear and we saw loads of tropical fish just walking. There were also lots of interesting birds. We ended up walking all the way to the nearest beach and took a water taxi back.
If we do end up with two days in Cabo, we will spend the longer of the two days doing the excursions and the shorter day to either have a walk around again or do a boat tour. They do offer glass bottom boat tours near the port. While we were on the tender boats, we saw sea lions up close. I would love to have a closer look at them.
Our plans are now coming together. I managed to get 6 nights at the Villas at Grand Californian Resort and Spa before the cruise and 4 nights after the cruise. As they only have 50 2 bedroom equivalent DVC units, I expected to have to waitlist at least some of the nights. I was really surprised that I got a studio for all the nights I needed straight away both times I rang. Now I just have to make decisions as to whether we hire a car for the whole of the time or get transfers from the airport to
Disneyland and only get a car for a couple of days when we want to go further afield. I have transfers booked from the hotel back to the port and then back to the hotel as it seems to be silly to pay for both a hire car and parking at the port while we are on the ship. I also need to book our flights at some stage. I hope that special fares for fall will be released after Easter. So far all the specials only are available for departures up to 31st May.
Before I get too involved with planning this vacation, I have another vacation to look forward to. I still had some vacation days left and I have a couple of free standby ticket for anywhere on my employers network, where I just have to pay the taxes. So we have decided to spend a week in Dubai. I managed to get a fantastic travel industry discount rate at a 5 star hotel that will give us access to a private beach of their sister hotel, which is right across the street. Our hotel even has heated tile loungers! We are hoping to buy new wedding rings, want to visit the worlds tallest building and also spent a day at Aquaventure (a fantastic water park) at the Atlantis. I will also see if they have any availability for a dolphin swim on the day we go there. Other than that, we will just have a lazy vacation staying on the beach or by the pool. I am so looking forward to this.
