October 16th, 2022 - 5-Night Halloween on the High Seas Cruise from New York (Bermuda)

We just booked our first Disney Cruise! We have 3 adults and 1 kid (2)! Are there any tips for traveling with a toddler in Bermuda?

Hopefully we will get a good room as we booked the VGT package. Would it be possible to move up to the first seating dining if we were automatically placed in the second? My LO sleeps at 8 pm.... I just emailed them and hopefully this can be accommodated.
I called yesterday and they changed me to main dining. There was no wait list at that time.

Just booked this cruise for my wife and !! This is our second Disney Cruise (last one was 10 years ago) so I guess that makes us Silver members and we can book shore excursions on 7/18, correct?

I'm a little apprehensive about the Bermuda Travel Authorization and COVID testing procedures as I have no experience in those areas. But both wife and I have had all 4 vaccines (2 initial and 2 boosters). We're also in NYC so should have no trouble finding a testing site. They are set up on every other corner it seems.

I'll try to follow along to gather info so I can meet all of the requirements. Any assistance and tips that are offered here will be extremely welcome!

Just pre-paid our gratuities and changed to Main Dining from the Second Seating.

Welcome! :grouphug:

Yes, you are Silver now so you can book your onboard activities and shore excursions on July 18th.

We will have to wait until we get closer to know what is going on with the Bermuda Authorization form. A few people who are on our sailing have called Disney and it maybe that they may take care of the Authorization form for us. Here’s hoping they do, but Disney phone CMs have been know to give out incorrect info. Disney hasn’t mentioned anything publicly about the Authorization form as of yet.

As of now everyone still needs to upload their Covid vaccination to safe passage and provide a negative Covid test also to safe passage when it comes time.

I have been occasionally checking Disney’s website for our sailing and looks like it is a pretty empty sailing. I am not surprised you were able to get moved to main dining. I wonder how many GTY rooms they have sold. We happen to be one of them that moved our stateroom to a GTY to save some money. Can’t see that info online to truly know how full our sailing is.

Thanks for all of the info. We got a GTY room and if I'm reading everything right it was quite a large savings.

Looks like I have to wait until the excursion booking date to pre-pay for a photo package as well.

Very excited to be going on this cruise!!

Yes, we saved $600 canceling our stateroom and booking a GTY for the same stateroom type.

Yes, you can buy your photo package on July 18th. I am Gold and can see what is available if you like me to check on anything for you before your date.

Does anyone know if there is place at or near the Manhattan cruise port to temporarily store luggage? We will have the rest of the day after the cruise to explore NYC before we need to head to the airport that evening. :)

Would we be able to do shore excursions on both days in Bermuda? Or just the first day?

We were looking at the dolphin experience on day one and the glass bottom boat on the second day.

You should be able to book excursions for both days if you wish. I would advise if you want a possibly quieter less crowded excursion I would schedule it on the first day (Oct18th) we have an arrival time listed for 8:00am with an all ashore time of 10:00am. The Mariner of the seas isn’t scheduled to arrive until 3:00pm that day (don’t know their all ashore time) so the Magic will be the only ship in port for a while. The mariner of the Seas then won’t be leaving port until after the Magic is scheduled to leave for the scheduled sea day.

Will there be a night to dress up in Halloween costumes on this cruise?

The Disney Wish embarked on her Maiden voyage today so I thought it would be fun to post some videos about the Disney Magic since it was the original Disney ship and we will be sailing on her this October.

The making of the Disney Magic.

When the Magic had it’s first reimagining during 2014 dry dock.

Changes during the 2018 dry dock.

- Today is the day that you can book onboard activities and shore excursions!

Still trying to get caught up on what I need to know so sorry if this has been covered:

Halloween Night - Dress up in costume. Would this be for dinner or just on-deck in the evening?
Pirate Night - I guess we get dressed up as pirates this night. 🤷‍♂️ Same question, dress for dinner or afterwards?

Any formal or semi-formal nights?

No problem ask as much as you like. The best way I think I can explain it is that the ship typically starts doing the Halloween and pirate activities starting at 5:00pm. So you will see people dressed up before they attend dinner. We usually dress up before our main dining time dinner. Characters are usually out in their Halloween and pirate costumes for photos before main dining starts. The optional Dress up night should be on day 3 our first night in Bermuda. They should have more formal photo opportunities set up in the atrium.

Was able to book the Glass Bottom Boat excursion for the first day on Bermuda and the Dolphin Experience for the second day.

I was slightly disappointed that all of the pre-cruise photo packages were already sold out.

👉 UPDATE:

There has been some news recently released that may affect our Disney cruise sailing in October. Carnival cruise has received some information from the island of Bermuda of changes to what is needed to sail to Bermuda. Carnival informed their passengers that for their up coming sailings to Bermuda they can no longer accept a Covid recovery letter. Now all passengers, regardless of vaccination status or whether they have recently recovered from the illness, must present a negative test result within the appropriate pre-travel window before their cruise. Also now Bermuda considers fully vaccinated not only the full primary vaccine series, but also one booster shot. So make sure you go schedule that booster shot if you haven’t had one yet. I will post more as I come across it.
