Hello! My family has been to the World several times, but as a family we have not been to Land. I have been twice but that was a good 15 years ago at least. We are looking at dates that fall during my daughter's fall break from school. Would the 15-20 of October be a good week as far as weather/crowds? I am trying to book a package that includes a partner hotel, but I am finding almost none with any availability that week which has me worried that will be a super crowded time? Any info/advice is appreciated!

Oct has become a VERY busy time of year. That week is fall break for Utah schools which brings in a lot more people, there might be other area schools also on break. That with the popular halloweentime festivities and parties even midweek days are busy. Gone are the days of 20 min max wait for rides, we used to love Oct for that! If you're seeing sold out hotels I'd say that's an indication that it'll be busy but then again when isn't it busy at DL anymore???

That's what I was afraid of. Disney World (I'm sure you already know) is the same way now. We just got back from a trip there, and it was sooo crowded. We go with our days planned and do a lot of research so we still had a great time, but I hate that the parks are busy year around now. We are used to the Fp+ system in the World, is the FP system in DL pretty much the same as the old system DW used to have?

Still old system, one FP every 2 hours or until your return time window opens up, whichever comes first. Even when it's super busy it's still magical so I'll take that over not going at all

I noticed that Oct got more expensive - and I am comparing to that same week last Oct when we went. Our hotel was $79 a night (Desert Inn & Suites) but I tend to book super in advance, I booked a few days ago for our tentative trip in April/May and got the same rate. So I am thinking it is a combo of school breaks (DD also has a few days off that week every year) and just ppl booking early for the best rates.

Another thing you will run into is many people seem to book multiple hotels and then later make their final choice and cancel the bookings they don't want. If you keep checking you will see availability pop up.

Also, have you tried calling WTDC to book the package? They may have more available than what the website shows.

I was also looking at this time because it use to be a "slower" time however I found the prices higher then we normally pay. I ended up going with the first week in December but I have flexible times to save money. I did love going around that time in October but not for the extra money!

I would recommend not booking a package. They usually are not cheaper than booking seperately, and are harder to cancel. Just look for hotels now without a package and make a reservation for one that is in your price range (across harbour from Disneyland would be my recommendation).
