October 12, 2013 - Western Caribbean on the Fantasy!!!

The FE List has been updated.

Going forward please send me a PM me with your stateroom information if you would like to join. Things get lost in the threads and PMs are the best way to make sure you get added to the list in a timely manner.

Scott - Thanks for keeping the cruise FE list and for adding our family to it. I sent you a PM with our stateroom info.

I notice there are three 10 year old boys in our group including my DS. I know earlier in the thread there was a discussion about a departure day meet for the group. It would be a great opportunity for the kids to meet their cruise buddies, too, perhaps making friends to hang out with at the Oceaneer Club / Lab.

Martin, We have a 10 year old son and would be happy to meet up with you and your son at the departure day meet or whatever else would work.

Yes :) We've been to Grand Cayman & Cozumel twice, but I think DD is finally old enough to do the stingrays at Grand Cayman (probably thru Captain Marvin's). I like the Fury Catamaran & Beach Party in Cozumel - not sure if it will be thru DCL or on our own - have to look into it (we have done the Eco Park & Snorkel thru DCL before). Was going to do Tropicante in Costa Maya, but DH suggests staying on the ship (we were there in Dec - he got off ship, DD & I did not), so undecided on this one.

We board the Fantasy in 43 days for our 3rd cruise on her (will be our 8th DCL cruise overall!!!), so I won't start planning as much for this cruise until after school is out probably.

Wow 43 days!!! I'm going on a hunch that you like cruising...lol. Are you going on the same cruise or a different destination?

We are going on an Eastern. This one has calls to St Thomas & San Juan. We went on an eastern in June - LOVE IT!!!! We went to St John (by far my most favorite island so far) & saw a little of downtown St. Thomas. This time, we are going to probably do the Skyride & Maegan's Bay beach in St. Thomas and tour San Juan (with some help from a friend that lives there).

And yes, we LOVE cruising.

We hope to do an eastern soon!!! Have fun! Can't wait to hear how your vacation was!

Good Morning Fellow Cruisers!
Just wanted to let ya'll know that I read this morning that WDW ticket prices are most likely going up sometime in April, so if anyone is planning to combine the cruise with WDW, you may want to purchase your tickets soon. The time for expiration doesn't start until the first day of use so they will still be good for October. I need to talk to my Aunt again about whether or not we are adding a WDW day so that if we do, we can go ahead and purchase our tickets. Have a great day everyone!!

They increase them earlier every year :( Used to be Aug, then July, last year it was June, now April. Our annual passes renew every Dec., but I had to get DDs exchange certificate from AAA online in June since they were doing away with child annual passes......

My DS will be 10 too, and I'm sure would love to make some cruise buddies! His favorite place to be is in the Lab. :)

The meet & greet is from 2-3pm on Deck 13 by the wading pool on the 1st day.

In the effort of full disclosure, we moved our other dummy booking to the 5-night Double Dip on the Magic out of Miami on Oct 20th (the cruise immediately after dry dock) & added the 2-night cruise to no where as a back-to-back last night. We are not sure which one we will keep - those that we just booked last night, or this cruise. There are pros & cons to both...... It would've been a no-brainer to cancel this one if we were booked on the Aug 2014 western with Jamaica, but that cruise is a fortune!!!!

So, not sure which way we are going, but it's possible we may end up "jumping ship." We've got until mid-June to make up our minds!

Let us know what you decide. You have to do what's best for you and your family:). If you do "jump ship" I will offer to take over the Fe list.

On another note, anyone have any thoughts on a cruise logo?

I will.

It's not as cut & dry for me. I want to swim with the stingrays in GC & go to on the Fury Catamaran excursion in Cozumel. I don't want to give up the "mini-suite." I'd rather DD miss 4 days of school instead of 5. Plus, I know PC like the back of my hand! It's a super easy 1 hr 45 min drive AM of the cruise :) Love that!!

That being said, we love the classic ships. We love Castaway Cay. And, it's not like we wouldn't be able to get on another DCL western again LOL.

For DH, no brainer. It would help the blog to have first hand info on the sailing right out of dry dock.

Cons? Drive to Miami, 4-5 hours & to unfamiliar territory. Drive up AM of cruise or day before? DD misses 5 days of school & possibly fall activities.

So much to decide!!! Good thing there's time ;)

Missing 5 days of school at her age, seems to not be that much of an issue;) We've taken our kids out for a week at a time at least once a year, and a few years we added another 3 days a second time in the year since my son was in kindergarten. We just took my children out of school for 6 nights in October. No issues for my 7th grader; my 10th grader on the other hand, well lets just say this cruise is only taking him out for 3 days! And this will be the last time he's taken out of school until after college, lol!

Emily, we will be sorry to lose all of you from our cruise if you decide to change, but of course we understand. Let us know once you decide.

:welcome: Happy to have you and your family join us. My DD, my Aunt and myself will be in a 4D, Stateroom #6144. We were previously booked in a 5D (6146) and decided to upgrade to get a little extra space. My DD and I last cruised in June 2011 on the Dream. Looking forward to cruising on the Fantasy.
