October 12, 2013 - Western Caribbean on the Fantasy!!!

Haha! I'm working on it...even though I'm mostly talking to myself! I'm probably in for the meet and greet, DD always wants to hit the Mickey pool first thing anyway, although not sure if DH and DS will come along. I may do Champagne Girls, just depends on when it is. I end up taking DD to see a lot of the characters, and we won't know those schedules until we sail. I may do the 5K too. I did it last time, although only after a lot of arm twisting from DH. I always run on vacation (on the deck), but wasn't sure I wanted to do a 5K. It was very hot, and I was exhausted after , but the extra strong pina colada in a coconut after seemed to pick me right up.

I figure we'll get a time set closer to the cruise...as much as I wish it would hurry we still 334 more days...not that I'm counting...lol

Sorry for all the extraneous posts. They were partly to help me get to 10 posts so that I could post the picture I wanted to share. Although now I believe I have managed to add an avatar and a ticker too...so I'm happy about that.

Ok, the Castaway Cay 5K...DH and I ran it in July. It was hot and humid, but I'm glad I did it, at least once. I'll probably let myself get talked into it again, but I'm not committing just yet. For anyone who has kids, we were able to drop ours off at Scuttles Cove on the way to the run. They had a blast! We didn't even know it existed before that. DH and I went and ran, got our medals (they are plastic, but they are still a Mickey head), and then bought a nice shirt to remember the occasion. They were for sale a the shop near the end of the run. I believe there is a timer at the finish if you care about your time, but there isn't anything very official about this 5K. I don't think there is a "winner"...everyone wins, just by participating. There were a few kids, probably tweens, or teens. Now that my DS is running cross country, we may consider taking him next year. If anyone has any questions, just let me know!

I like #5 the best and #4 second best...

Nothing personal here, but IMO... I don't care for any of those at all.
I think #3 the characters look poorly photoshopped on. I wouldn't use this if we choose something like that. And I don't think the other 2 are 'very Disney' like. I feel like I might as well cruise Carnival. I want to see the Mickey icon or Mickey himself. but this is JMHO...I don't mean it as anything personal. I just want something that screams disney and IMO those don't. They're rather lacking that way... No hard feelings intended.

That's because design #3 was another Milliepie one that Triplefigs played with!!!! Nothing personal against Milliepie, but I don't see all the rave over her stuff. I suppose if you aren't creative, it's nice to have a place to go & get your stuff. That's how I feel about the FEs that can be ordered from Etsy or bought on ebay, too though. I'm also someone who doesn't purchase Halloween costumes, either; I prefer to make them because of the uniqueness. Just personal opinions. Different strokes for different folks.

No hard feelings at all - I wasn't suggesting we reuse those designs at all. Just wanted to post them to illustrate my point of what I felt was "cookie cutter" vs. original. That's all

Each group of cruisers has very different personalities. That's what makes the world go 'round, right?

My DD, Aunt & I decided we wanted a little more room so we upgraded from a 5D to a 4D, Stateroom 6144 (which happens to be right next to the 5D we were previously in). I know it's only a little more square footage but I think it will make it seem more roomy.

I started Christmas shopping. Yay me!! Love to shop online. Not finished yet though. Still need to get some Disney Gift Cards for my son and daughter-in-law for them to use on our Feb. 2013 WDW trip. They are taking my grandkids (5 & 2) on their first WDW trip and of course I have to go too (even though my DD & I just went in Sept.). Have a great day everyone!

So we moved a dummy booking to the March 8th Eastern in 2014 on the Fantasy (Spring Break). Opening day, 2A 1C, same Cat, same room (5E #8188 ) as we have for our March 9, 2013 spring break on the Fantasy; no transfers or insurance. With the 10% off for booking on board, it was still over $1,000 than the 2013 one. We booked it, but begrudgingly.

We tried to move our 2nd dummy date to Aug 2nd on the Fantasy, same specs as above. Over $5800. Cat 8A was still over $5K and the cheapest rooms (Cat 11C) was $4200. ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? Ugh. The Aug 9 Eastern was a few hundred less, but still extremely overpriced. We did not book that; left our one dummy date & are praying that there are either FLR or VGT rates, or that the Magic/Wonder has something to offer in Aug 2014.

For those if you booking tomorrow, be prepared. It is going to cost you dearly.

They're not filling ships now! With those prices and the same ol' same ol', I think they will be hard pressed to fill the ships!!! I know I will not be booking and will wait for the special gty rooms or wait until they do a kids sail free or dvc special pricing!

Booked our 2014 Caribbean cruise with a stop in Jamaica! May 24th...now just hope the kids have no snow days that year, or they will be missing school to go! We're going to try out those 8A rooms with the two porthole windows. They look more roomy.

Are there kids clubs on Castaway Cay? I really want to do the 5k, but won't be able to without a kids program.
