October 12-14-SOLD OUT, Will I EVER get my nights at the Contemporary?

My dm and my sister are taking my children to WDW October 12-19 and are staying at the Contemporary.
My husband and I will be all alone and will be taking a cruise out of Tampa, which leaves on Monday.
We would like to join my mom, sister and kids for 2 nights, October 12-14 but the Contemporary is fully booked. Wings and Towers. I know SOG is in there now, expected to be out end of Sept. but wonder why the Towers and garden are fully booked. We currently have 2 nights booked at Grand Floridian but would prefer to stay in the same hotel as everyone else, especially since we will be out all day. Thought of moving to the Poly (havn't been there yet) but decided to wait and try that hotel with the kids next time we go. I'll keep calling but any other advise you could give me I would GREATLY appreciate! Thanks dis friends

Lot's of conventions are booked at the Contemporary and October is convention month. You could keep checking back -- closer to the actual date, they may release rooms that haven't been booked by conventioneers. How about try the Poly or the WL? They are both close to the CR.

ARe you talking about 2002 or 2003. SoG will be at the Contemporary until Sept 2003.

Thank you. I am talking about October 2002. I thought SOG was to be out by 2002 not 2003, that explains a lot. Of course, the CM on the phone didn't even know they are in there now or planning to be there in the future.
I will keep trying buy knowing SOG will be taking up rooms too, it is beginning to look like I won't be there.
I guess I will just have to slum it at the Grand Floridian

AQs you get closer to the date you want, you may find that rooms come available. I know that many of us (I'm guilty of this sometimes , will book a room that holds space at one resort while we are deciding where we are going to stay. My sister, as a travel agent, also reserves blocks of rooms fdor her clients, and then releases them as the date approaches if they haven't sold. In my experience, I have found better rates and availablility by reserving closer to my desired stay dates.

At that time of year, most likely you are running into rooms being held for conventions or events. I know the PGA tournament is 10/14-20, for example. Make some backup plans and then keep checking the CR for rooms to be released.
