October 11, 2014 7-Night Southern Caribbean Cruise on Disney Magic (San Juan)

I am looking forward to getting off the ship and possibly enjoying San Juan for a bit though! I love it there; can't get enough!!!

that's what we are hoping to do we won't be able to fly in early and explore so we will have to explore quickly.

We will be heading into town as well. There is always more we want to see.

When we went in December it was pouring rain and we got off the ship about 8:30. All aboard was 4:30. (A little more time than we have this time)
We walked every where we went that day.

Hoping this gives someone an idea of what they could do in a port day

In that time we went to Castillo de San Cristobal. (POTC4 opening scene was filmed here)
We fully explored it. The Disney walking tour caught up to us. They left before us.

We did take the park tram over to El Morro. Explored that as well. Meaning we saw the films and explored all the exhibits. Listened to ranger talks where possible.
Combined fee for adults is $5 per person kids under 16 are free.

We walked around Old Town taking pictures. Did some shopping for dry shoes. Went out to lunch which took a while to get a seat and service was slow, Walked around some more. Did some shopping for souvenirs.

Went into a store where they sold art made from butterflies. Very relaxing and calming place.

The last half hour I looked for a birthday necklace for my mom. Cutting that time- Everything else could be done in our shorter port time without a problem.

It was a very full day.

This trip:
I want to walk Paseo de la Princesa over to the Old City gate, go past it and take it to the end by El Morro. Walk back and enter through the Old City Gate.

I want to see Old San Juan Cathedral where Ponce de Leon is buried.
La Forteleza is also on my list.

Thinking lunch somewhere.

I wonder if non disboarders will know about the repo tho

I agree!! I think the main reason we all knew about it is because of SSanders....thanks Scott!!! If I was not on the 2 groups, I would not have known. I also think the energy this group (both dis and FB) is great and we get each other all excited about things too!

Sounds like a ton of stuff to explore. We are getting into San Juan a day before the cruise and will probably do some sight seeing then, but it is a good possibility that we will get off between cruises to do more. It is kind of like another port day.

just wondering if there will be any halloween decorations we love disney halloween.

I hope so too! We've cruised twice before in October, but earlier in the month, so the only decorations were on people's doors. Maybe since we're later in the month, there will be.

Hi,

Dorinda and George Chambers, We would like to be added to the FE group, Rm 6126. My disboard name is chambe4. It is just the 2 of us cruising. We are from Land O Lakes, Florida. Looking forward to going on this cruise. We have taken other Disney cruises.

I would like to sign up for the roaming gnome magnet, sounds like fun. Room 6126 Is there a meet and greet? If so when and where? We are so excited! Dorinda

We were on the ship at this time a couple of years ago, and there were no decorations, though one night the characters were dressed up which was really fun.

We would also like to sign up, our room is 2079.

Thank you for the sign up, so how does this work? Dorinda

I will print off one copy of this magnet, send it room to room with pens, list and lanyard. Send magnet, list, pens, lanyard only to those interested and on the list. (Sign the magnet, cross your name off the list and give the "packet" to the next room on the list) Return to me before the last night. When we get back, I will scan and post the picture on FB and Disboards so everyone can print out and enjoy their own copy! Enjoy!!!

I just started reading the thread and saw about the repositioning cruise. Thanks so much for tip! I just went and booked it. The one thing we were original sad about was missing Castaway Cay. Now we don't have to!

So excited to read about the repositioning cruise! (Yes, I'm a bit behind.) Our two staterooms (DH, DD3, and me in one and my parents in the other) were available. It'll be our first B2B! Also my parents' first (two) cruise(s) -- I'm so excited to show them Castaway Cay, which is my favorite place on earth. Well, tied with WDW in general.

By the way -- can someone educate me about B2B? How does it normally work? Do you debark for a certain period of time, etc.?

After thinking about it for a few weeks, I finally decided to book the Repo cruise too. Very lucky and excited our same cabin from this sailing was still available. I take that as a sign that I was meant to book the Repo. :lmao:
