Glad to see everyone like the bus outfits. I hate to say it but I am scared to see the Dis T-shirt designs if your all into these outfits..LOL!!!!!!!!!!

Lets see who can come up with the most off the wall pirate design..Allen??Don??????

Just got off the phone with DVC and wanted to share what I did, as I am still in a bit of shock! :scared1: I had some points left to use up before 2009, so I wanted to stay at WDW the night after the cruise as well as the two nights before. I ended up booking a GRAND VILLA at SSR for the night after the cruise... :cheer2: Just told my DH what I did and I think he is excited...When we toured SSR to buy in August, all we said when we got into the Grand Villa was "Yeah Right!" at the thought of staying in one EVER! Well, I suppose the mind of a pregnant mom to 4 kids already can do funny things at times, huh!?!? :lmao: :rotfl2:

Hi Everyone! I am sorry that I haven't been around lately. I have been trying to read up as my time allows.....

I just had to come and get some reassurance from some people who can RELATE!!!

I am on the calendar planning committee for our school system (as a parent rep) and this past year we had 3 days off during what would be our cruise week next year. (short fall break) Ok...so I felt "safe" booking the cruise thinking kids (will be 5th grade) will only be missing 3 days of school......

Well....it couldn't be MORE complicated trying to plan out a calendar with so many requirements mandated by the state...yada, yada, yada!
Throw into the mix that our school system is building a new high school which will shift around all the current schools into new buildings. (Easing up crowding) The Calendar has to have "moving" days built into it which is going to take away 2 of our days during cruise week next year! The kids will only get that Monday off. They will have to miss the Friday before(the 10th)
and also the Tues- Friday of the cruise!

AHHHHHH....Somebody tell me it is OK that I am allowing them to miss that many days in 5th grade. Everybody around here scares me when they say, "Oh,,,,5th is soooo hard! I can't believe you are letting them miss that much!"
It is what it is and we ARE going on the Cruise! I guess I am just having guilt! I had counted on having some more off days that week!

Thanks for letting me rant! I know you guys will understand!

Hi Everyone. I haven't posted in a while, but have been trying to keep up with the thread. I'm taking a moment while I have some peace to catch up...
We received the dreaded phone call last nite that DH's Dad passed away. So instead of a family reunion for Thanksgiving, we're having a funeral. I guess it's still a reunion of sorts...
On a lighter note, I did want to say Thank You to Allen for the list. It is wonderful. And the pics of the castle are absolutely beautiful. It wasn't decorated like that when we were there for Christmas of '99. What a site that must be in person.
Everyone have a wonderful, loving holiday. Remember to hug your loved ones and give thanks for all that you have.
Sandy :sad1:

I know how scary it can be, but family time is so important and before you know it, your kids are grown and out on their own. Sure they will miss school, but they will always remember this trip. And before long, they will be cught up at school. The teachers can even give them assignments ahead of time.
And my kids made it through 5th grade fine.

My DD is going to be a junior in high school. We don't get a fall break, we don't even get Columbus Day off. I will be pulling her out for six days. But because our grown DD is coming with us and this was the only time she could do it with the grandkids, I figured what the heck. My DD has never been anywhere east of Arizona and Utah and time is running out for us. So I say go for it and don't feel guilty. IMO

OK, so Kristin has room in her luggage for me, and now you have space in your room, I'm all set, I just have to ditch my family for the night :rotfl2: !

Seriuosly though, congrats on that score, that is sooooooooooooooooo cool! I will never be able to stay in a Grand Villa.

I am still somewhat in shock as well, however, we are not forfeiting any of our points and that was my goal! Never thought Grand Villa would be the result though!:woohoo:

Thanks for the reassurance! You are right! Family time is important! Sometimes it is easy to get caught up in the "pressure" that seems to surround the kids and school these days. I know that I won't care one bit about it when that horn blows and we are on our way!!!!
Thanks!!!

I too am sorry for your family's loss. I know this must be so very hard right now. I will say a prayer for your family.:)

Sandy I'm so sorry for your lost :sad1: I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. hugs to you and your family.

Gina, thanks for explaining the term for me, sounds like a nice place. We're thinking of going with the Raddison at the port the night before the cruise, hope it's a good choice.

Kristin, I've tried posting the url to my signature and it wont work for me :confused3 must be doing something wrong LOL I love those little cuties too.

Sandy,

I am soo sorry for your loss. I will say an extra prayer for you and your family....

Mommyrom,
WOW!!! I am jealous I have always wanted to stay in one of those. We keep saying that we are going to invite family and stay at one of those...How many days are you staying after the cruise??

Erika,
You are all set make sure you order your outfit early and then we will be able to reconize you at SSR....LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!

Somebody help me. I tried to add the bouncing Santa Mickey and now I'm screwed up my turkey.   How do I fix all of this?

I think I have the solution for your problem... There is an extra space in the url for your turkey, and the format for the bouncing Mickey is missing the image designators. I have sent you an email through the dis with the fix. Just copy and paste it into your signature, and it will be back. If you have any problems, let me know.

I would pull my grandkids out of school for a week in a heart beat if my daughter would let me. She did untill they got into Middle School. The trip can be very educational. You could have the kids pick a port and do some research on the port and the culture. You can talk with the school and have the kids do some of the assignments ahead of time. It will be a trip they will never forget.

Thanks for ideas about port research. I think that is a great idea. I will start all of these conversations early in the school year next year with their teachers. Maybe a souviener or two won't hurt either!;)
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!!

Sandy, I am so sorry for your loss, it is difficult at the best of times, much less close to the holidays. My thoughts and prayers are with you and yours.

Disneymomtwins:

My ds will be in grade 5 when we go on the cruise too, and I didn't even give it a second thought. He is a good student and has always caught up in the past. The teachers at our school are great and always put together a package of work to do before, during and after. He has to work a little harder to stay caught up but he manages with minimal complaint:goodvibes

Have a great day all,
Gina

Mommyrom,

you are so LUCKY, that sounds incredible. I remember when we took the SSR tour of the Grand villa, our jaws dropped, enjoy your decision and have a nice jacuzzi while you are there.
