anyone else considering it?

Hello Everyone,

I haven't posted in ages due to being under lots of pressure at work....long story. I've been meaning to log on for ages but never go round to it but Allens email today with the updated list gave me the push I needed.

I haven't had time to catch up on all the posts - you guys can really chat :) but I'll try to catch up. Hope everyone is well and looking forward to THE CRUISE!

To be honest the cruise is the only thing keeping me going just now -we've had a pretty tough couple of months -I am so so busy in work and so is Donald -am sure it's the same in the US but we're having a pretty tough time economically in the UK. My department in work is under pressure to perform better than ever and I'm putting in a lot of hours....I've got a picture of the Magic as my wallpaper and it's keeping me sane :)

Am going to get up at 5am tomorrow as this is when reservations will open for us - am hoping to get Palo but noticed from some of the posts I read that brunch was gone :(

I read a post about rude dinner companions and have to say this is something I am a wee bit anxious about - fingers crossed for lovely table mates....

Hope to pop on more regularly and catch up with you all, although the time difference means it's unlikely I'll be online when most of you are on.

I'm going to read through all the posts now but if anyone could help and let me know if there is anything planned by way of a pre-cruise meet in port canaveral I'd be very grateful.

Katie

Log in when it opens up. If you log in before, you will have to re-login anyway once it opens up. That happened to me at the 90-day window and I freaked when it first told me I couldn't make reservations until I realized I had to re-login.

Well with luck hopefully by the time I log in the window will be open. I don't know about anybody else but even the low bandwith DCL site is running dirt slow for me the past couple of days.

Better not tonight

What is wrong with ppl that they need to act like this?

NOt to defend them because there is no defense for that. But they likely asked for their own table and didn't get so they decided to punish you, like it your fault you got stuck there:rolleyes: If it were just me and Rich we might have foloowed Denis's advice and gone back just to spite them. But there's no need to subject a young child to that. That's just wrong.

Glad you had a good time at Topsiders though. Rich and I may try it during Semi-formal night if its open, or we just might do room service that night. We'll see.

Hello Everyone!

This was exactly what happened and they made sure we knew it. From the way they acted, even the children, I really don't think anyone would have been good enough for them. I had intended to just ask to be moved, but I didn't get around to it on Sunday, so we went to Topsiders and enjoyed it so much that we just decided to stick with it. We just decided that if we kept going to that table every night we would let those people ruin our cruise.

We did meet some really great people on that cruise though. We had a wonderful Dis group and we went to the Sail Away Meet with them and kept running in to them on different activities. My DD made friends with a little girl in the club. They met at the pool several times and her Mom and still exchange e-mails from time to time. We also met another family from Kentucky on the ship and we have become good friends. We live several hours apart, but we meet in Lexington often. In fact, we have a shopping trip planned for tomorrow in Lexington and she and her daughter are meeting us there. For the most part, everyone else we meet during the week were wonderful.

Hello Everyone-

I haven't been on in a long time, so need to catch up. I just learned about the FE, door magnets, etc and have been going thru those threads making my requests. I also have been concentrating on our other cruise on the Wonder on 9/11/08 with just myself and my DH for our anniversary. This all can be rather addictive. So, since I haven't read all the pages yet, are there any plans for a DIS meet or FE exchange on this cruise? :)

We are going as a family again on the Double Dip 11/14/2009. I was surprised how full it was already-couldn't get adjoing cabins like we normally do.

If you can convince your daughter to give it another try, I would. It's a pity that you had such rude table mates, but I'd like to believe it's the exception rather than the rule. Just curious, did you try asking for another table when you saw the situation the first night? I would, DCL can be very accommodating. We are traveling just the two of us and if I end up at a table with a family, I will immediately ask to be moved. That is a no win situation.

Hello! As I put in my other post, I had intended to ask to be moved, but we were doing the cruise with two stops at Castaway Cay and that meant that we were there on Sunday. We had so much fun at CC that I did not make it back on the ship in time to do anything on Sunday. Then, we ended up being very satisfied at Topsiders. At that time, Merkie was eight and I think the two hour meals would have been more than she could handle anyway. It was also our first cruise. We used the extra time to do things on the ship that we probably would not have been able to do if we spent so much time eating. One night, Merkie and her little friend were the only two in the Mickey Pool for almost an hour. I sat with her Mom and talked and now we are still friends two years later.

We love everything Disney and I am sure that this won't be our last Disney cruise. As Merkie gets older, I'm sure she'll want to eat in the restaurants and she'll be mature enough to not care what anyone says to or about her. I hope anyway!

Here is some information for all of you planning to book tonight.

That is a horrible story. It is a great testament to Topsiders. I think you've convinced me to try it one night. I'm sure you'll have better luck this time. My DD is 8, the same age Merkie was at the time? That would upset me the most. Be rude to me...fine..but be rude to my child. Grrrrrr.

If you do try Topsiders, come around six and we will be there. That is what time we always arrived and I am sure it will be again. It's the time that we normally have dinner here at home. Merkie is 10 now, but she loves kids and seems to get along with everyone. I'm sure she and your daughter would hit it off well.

For those of you who have mentioned the Wii Fit, that's what Merkie is doing now. We bought it when it first came out but she has just started using it over the last week, but it's all she wants to do.

For those already able to book, what are the times this is offered? Called the Disney info line and the guy couldn't tell me, just said the basic time is 8:15 am, and no others listed right now.

Also, does anyone know what you can and can't ship to your stateroom? The Disney said no food/beverages/chemicals. We had hoped to ship some favorite snack packs and juice boxes, but..... may have to carry those on. I keep reading conflicting reports on this one.

Katie,

I understand the whole, looking forward to cruise is keeping me going theme. My work right now (work in proj mgmnt in Aerospace) is soooo stressful. It really does help to have something MAGICal :wizard: to look forward to.

I'd love it if you guys ended up at our table. We have an 8 year old sweet girl named Sarina, and her and Niamh could be buddies. Now if you just had a 3 year old son that would be perfect. LOL.

Anyway, welcome to the boards.

Welcome back!! Have your ears been burning?? I was just telling someone Saturday night about the family from Scotland who had checked in with us, but had not heard from them since! We feel your pain about the economy, and the push for more at work and other areas. Don't bother trying to catch up, we have discussed times and places for meets and photo opps, but don't have anything in concrete yet. So you really haven't missed much!

Have you posted about your dining experience in a trip report by chance?? I have read or heard a story just like this one. I would hate to think that this happens very often...If so, these people are just on the wrong ship!!

I think we will one evening when we aren't up to a long evening in the dining room. Thanks for the tip.

Yes there are quite a few of use who have linked up in the diningrooms with each other. You need to get in touch with your TA or DCL if you booked direct and have the reservation number, name the res. is under and their TA info. And then they will see what they can do.

Yes I am. It will be a dummy date and we will decide later what to do....maybe one of the new ships!!!

Same here. IF we rebook onboard it'll be a dummy date that we will decide about later on. My very expensive dream is that if we rebook to just transfer it to the last sailing of whichever ship leaves last at Port Canaveral to make way for the new ships. And hoefully that sailing would be through the Panama Canal. VERY EXPENSIVE:rotfl:
