Cruise Question for parents of teens

Have you before or will any of you book the Wild Side excursion on Castaway Cay?

My DD 13 thinks she would like it, so I think I'm going to go ahead and book it.

Good morning, everyone, by the way!:dance3:

Jamie

gometros- Where did you find the info that we will be docking in St. Thomas? I will be thrilled if that's the case! I thought tendering there was a pain!

The only port of which I know on the eastern and western that DCL uses tenders for is Grand Cayman.

Hi Big Red -
I have actually posted this on the main board and found out you can look on porttime dot com. It shows 3 ships in St. Thomas on Oct. 15 so I am hoping that means we will dock at Havensight. I loved that location but did not enjoy tendering into Crown Point. It was a pain!
Thats great! I haven't found that one. All I have found is the actual St. Thomas / Virgin Islands schedule. If it's 3 ships, we will be at Havensight. Have fun at the cabin!!

I have heard of ships having to tender in St. Thomas. I guess if there are more than 3 or 4 ships in port. I didn't know if a ship could actually dock at Crown Point or not....:confused3 Anyway, I think we are safe this trip!!!:cool1:

My kids may be interested but they are going to wait and sign up onboard in the Stack after they see who all is going!

Yeah, I'm hoping this holds true. I really liked docking at Havensight with shopping right off the ship! We did tender on our second eastern at Crown Point (is that the right name?) and it took forever. It was the first time DCL didn't seem to have its act together. I stayed on the ship but DH and the kids went to a beach. It was a mess...

I went ahead and reserved it because she has a few teen friends going from here, so I'm pretty sure she'll be happy. I'll talk the other parents into reserving it and during that time we'll go to Serenity.:cool2: Except I've still got to find something to keep DS10 happy/busy during that time. He usually goes with his grandmother and hangs at the beach, as he is 'over' the club time on CC, but she's not sailing with us this year.:sad1:

I think that is a tough age as far as CC goes. Too "old" for the club and not old enough for the teen beach. That is how old my DS was the first time we sailed. Luckily he met another boy his age (on the Disboards!) and he hung out with him on the family beach. We, of course, had to stay on the family beach too so I never got to Serenity Bay the first cruise. Last March ('07) it was pouring on our CC day. We put on the ponchos and went to have lunch at Serenity just so I could see it! We got drenched and laughed our butts off because we were the only ones there and the little awnings covering the tables would fill up with water and then just dump on one of us. I still laugh when I think about it!:rotfl2:

I hope you figure something out for your tween and that we all get to enjoy a beautiful day at Serenity Bay!

Been there done that!!! We were there during a tropical depression one time:umbrella: and we were determined we were going, by golly!!! It was so miserable all day that the captain took us back to CC the next day!:sail: Come to think of it, I don't remember why we would have been there with an extra day at sea afterward, but we were......hmmmm, I'll have to think about that.......:confused3

I'm going to have the same problem at CC. My dd is 12, not old enough for the teen beach, but can she even go to the kids club area?? I have no idea what to do with her. We want to do the sting rays, but I don't think she does.

Erika,

About the sting ray area - Alan and I were able to go and be right beside the area on the beach and watch while DS, DD, BIL, & MIL did the stingray adventure time. It was only separated by some netting, and I took lots of pics. Your DD could get in some beach time and be easily within your sight. This was a couple of years ago, though, so that's assuming the set up is the same. There were plenty of chairs and umbrellas in that area, too.

I'm also thinking we went in the actual area while they snorkeled. She might could go on the beach with you and just not partake in the actual adventure. She wouldn't be able to get in the water in that area, I'm pretty sure.

It's been a couple of years, though, so you might check that out on the main board if you want to...

Hi there everyone,

Just home from the cottage. its a yucky rainy day so we came home early.

Just thought I'd check in and say hi before I unpack.

Erika, Alexa can always hang with Mag. I know that she wants to do alot to snorkeling....

I'll be back later.

OK, I've been thinking :scared1: and I think we went to CC on Thursday because they predicted the weather was going to be really bad on Friday, but then it ended up being worse on Thursday, so they took us back to CC on Friday. Or something like that.....

OK I'm confused. You did end up going to CC right? But you went to CC twice?

Yes, we went on Thursday and it was nice for about 1 hour, then rain poured down in sheets the rest of the day, so the Captain announced that night that we would return on Friday as the weather would be better. So we did return and the weather was better for most of the day.

I'm good at confusing people!

That was the 4 night Wonder we went on in 05' and it was Tropical Storm Tammy that formed over us. It was a tropical depression that day and it was beautiful the next day though!! I think you all were at Serenity Bay with Spectrum-Turbo!! It was the one we called the "Mickey's Thumbs Up" cruise....the movie critics had a seminar on the ship.

Oh, yeah, that's right! He got in trouble for that with the mrs. ....but it was raining really hard and he couldn't get back to the meeting spot until the rain let up, now could he!:lmao: So the only choice was to sit under the umbrella at the bar:drinking1 What's a guy gonna do?:confused3
