I am in Chandler, Arizona, in the southeast valley in the Phoenix metro area.

My daughter and her family live in Gilbert (Val Vista lakes) and are going on the cruise with us......and my son and his family are in Mesa and not able to go...... In-laws are in Chandler near Arizona and Pecos...

I like that area, it's probably where we'll end up in retirement!!!

Wow, small world! I teach very near Val Vista Lakes at the Gilbert Learning Center (Gilbert Public School's alternative Jr. High and High School) at Power and Guadalupe! We are actually south Chandler, at Gilbert and Riggs (about 6miles south of Pecos) right by the Sun Lakes Retirement community. I think that this is a great place to retire, especially if you have family in the area, if you can tolerate the hot summers. I am trying to talk my retired parents into heading down to this area.

That is funny....When we drive between the two kids homes we always drive Guadalupe and pass by Highland high school and jr hi...Yes indeed...small world

Well all, it was nice chatting with you, but I am gettin' tired. Mike is home tonight (first time in a week), so I should actually be able to get some sleep tonight. I certainly don't get any when he is gone.

Night all.

Goodnight from me, too.

I mowed the yard for 4 hours today so I expect I'll sleep well tonight!

Talk to you soon!

Jamie

Drove out to Van Nuys on Friday night. My dad had back surgery on Wednesday and well, he is not good.

At least I have about 25 pages to catch up on to keep myself distracted while I sit here in the hospital.

Keep posting!!

Oh ugh! Back surgery is horribly painful... at least that is what we noticed with Sean. out of the 30+ that he has had, the back surgeries were the ones that affected him the most, and the pain lasted the longest.

I hope they are staying on top of the pain issues? Was it a spinal fusion, or something else he had done?

Hey Gouodux...

Sorry to hear about your father. We certainly hope he improves. We live in North Hollywood, as you know right next to Van Nuys. Let us know if you need anything while you're in town, sounds like we are just minutes away...

I'm sure this has already been answered, but just in case, we dock in both ports of call.

FYI - tendering is not too bad. We tendered in Grand Cayman. Yes, you do have to allow extra time to get to any planned excursions, but the tender is not at all shaky. I

gometros- Where did you find the info that we will be docking in St. Thomas? I will be thrilled if that's the case! I thought tendering there was a pain!

There are 2 docks in St. Thomas. The main dock is Havensight, which can handle 3 large ships. The secondary dock is Crown Point Marina. I think it can only handle 1 ship. If there are more than 4 ships in St. Thomas, you might want to stay on the ship!!! You can look here for the ship arrival schedule, but October's schedule is not yet available.

Good morning and welcome to the new additions!

I'm at the cabin again so seem to find more time to check in. I had planned to join all of you last night but after a cloudy, drizzly day, the evening was beautiful and we were out on the boat enjoying the lake. We have a pair of loons with two babies on the lake and they were so fun to watch. The bald eagle soaring overhead was making us pretty nervous though! They like baby loons...

My DH and the teens are in Cooperstown at the Hall of Fame and then to NYC for a Twins/Yankees game, a broadway show and the city sights. My sister (who will be on the cruise with us!) and I are spending five days at the cabin without kids, husbands and dogs!!!

I wrote down the salsa recipe - sounds wonderful. I might make it today to go with our mojitos tonight! Two city girls on the loose in northern Minn - look out!!:lmao:

Hope everyone has a great day!:hippie:

Hi Big Red -
I have actually posted this on the main board and found out you can look on porttime dot com. It shows 3 ships in St. Thomas on Oct. 15 so I am hoping that means we will dock at Havensight. I loved that location but did not enjoy tendering into Crown Point. It was a pain!

Good morning all!

I don't like the idea of tendering either, sounds like recipe for sea sickness for dd and I.

I didn't report on Mamma Mia yesterday. It was really good, but like Allen said, Pierce Brosnan CANNOT sing!!!! Why they couldn't get an actor that could, or put Colin Firth in his role, I do not know. I don't like to see movies alone, but this is one that I would if I had to. It was pretty faithful to the stage show. The dialogue areas had some issues, but the musical numbers were fabulous! There were 2 in particular that were worth the whole price of admission!!!! Plus the musical numbers during the beginning credits were just awesome!!!!!!!!!

Good Morning all!!!

I just caught up on what I missed last night!

Kristin, glad you had a good time last night. I wish I could come over today, but we are going to meet a friend and he is going to buy the 20" tires/rims that I had on the other Denali! Probably do lunch with him too!

GouoDux, I am sorry to hear of your Dad. Prayers and Pixie Dust heading his way.

Minniesota, ENJOY that girls only time!!! Sounds like a wonderful way to spend the weekend!

Heidi, hope you are enjoying your kidless weekend too!!!!

I have been to several movies by myself. They opened a theater just minutes from my house and started showing movies during the 10 am hour. I didn't have to be at the bus until 245, so it was great! Now that I am babysitting, I have not seen a movie during the day. I might have to go to see Mama Mia though. The boys have already said they don't want to see it. I saw Pierce Bronson on GMA and they were showing clips of the movie and I thought, Why did they pick him? He can't sing! LOL Oh well.....

Well, I better get a few things done before we head out.
