Our trip is for Oct 20-27, 2007 and our passports expire March 1, 2008. Is this a problem travelling within 6 months of expiry?

Can't find the thread that I thought I saw a while back about this. :confused3

Thanks!:)

Also, is Disney Store in Canada not online??? I have been trying to find it but after days I have decided to just ask you all because I need some T's and costumes for our trip and wanted to just order. The Disney store to my 3 girls is their princess: Princess heavenprincess: and my credit card hell:scared: so I try to avoid it if I can!

I don't know about the passport expiry but I remember reading that somewhere too. The search function here isn't great so it's hard to look things up. I found an FAQ for Canadian passports, maybe you can find an answer there ...

I don't think the Disney Store in Canada is online. You can order from the US Disney Store (http://www.disneyshopping.com) but it's pretty expensive to ship things back to Canada.

I have no clue about the passport but I can answer your question about the Disney Store. There is no online shopping for the Canadian Disney Stores. There is, as the pp said, disneyshopping.com based in the States. However, if you do know what you want, you can try calling a Canadian Disney Store and see if they can ship you the item(s) you are looking for. Still pay for shipping but it is in Canadian.

You'll have no problems with air travel to the USA. USA does not require passports to have six months of time remaining.

Exactly...some countries require at least 6 months time remaining on your passport but the US definitely isn't one of them. Good thing because according to Passport Canada's website: "bearers of valid passports cannot apply for a new passport until the remaining validity on their current passport is six months or less" :confused3

I know this one !

I just went in to renew my passport and was told I would not need the 6 month validity to fly into the US. HOWEVER !! My trip includes a cruise and for this, you DO need 6 month validity. Not sure if it's the re-entry into the US via cruise ship or if it's the Bahamas portion, but you need the 6 months.

Thank you I was looking for the information. I guess you could aply for your passport earlier than the 6 month window is it was lost or stolen. I will not need to get my new passport for my fall trip as my passport expires in Feb 08.

This whole passport/6mth thing has me curious. If a passport is issued by a country and it is valid for 5 yrs then why would some places not accept it if it is within 6mths of being renewed? I mean what's the point of having a 5yr renewal then?

The 6 month rule has to do with the length of time you're allowed to stay in the country. They don't want you to go to country "X" with 3 months remaining on your passport, stay 6 months, which you would be allowed to do, and then not be able to leave because your passport has now expired. There is some logic to it.
