OCT 6-16 ... Something happening??

Hi all,

New member here! We off to Orlando from Oct 6-16 this year. I've noticed lots of hotels are unavailable for this date range. I was under the impression this was a quite time of year. Is it not???

Columbus Day falls on Monday the 11th. Perhaps that has something to do with it?

Many Southern school systems have Fall Break during the beginning of October, since they start their school year so early. I know my brother's kids have Fall Break each year, and they are in a county in metro Atlanta.

Also, many in the UK take vacation in October because their schools are on break then.

It is Fall Break for Year Round Schools in Alberta, Canada. I know of 2 families that are going October 6-17. Kids are off either October 1-18 (Public schools) or October 6-18 (Catholic schools).

We will be at WDW Oct 9-16th.....it is our school's Fall Break. Actually I think that is a week for much of Kentucky then and I have nieces that live in Indiana that have that week off also.

We also have school Fall break that week. We aren't going to Disney this year, but we often do.

Even folks without kids may take that week since Monday is a holiday and they would only use four vacation days instead of five.

Alot of schools in the south have fall breaks in October. We went twice during that time but stopped going because it is busy.

Fall break at my daughter's school is in the beginning of October.
