Greg,
glad you had a good dinner, even though you came home to a mess. Next time they will be better when your gone.:thumbsup2

Some of those pain meds knock me out for a couple of days when I have had them after surgery. At least you'll get some rest.

raining harder than ever today.
UGH!!

Anybody notice the messed up post numbers or is it just my computer?
The top of this page was #5 and its counting backwards down to 1.
This is page 19 so our count is much higher than that.
Thats a page 1 count.:confused3
Never mind, after I finished this post they were back to normal again???

I just got a scary call from my best friend.
She and her dad were up in the mountains at the pit picking up brass for extra money. ( the pit's where people go and shoot guns) They do this about every 3 months.

It has about 8 inches of snow there but the roads were good enough for their truck.

They spent all morning and got a lot of brass and decided to go back a different way which takes them to a nice country town called Estacada.
So they drove a few miles then went around a corner and hit deep snow that turned them off the road into a 2 foot ditch.
They couldnt get out no matter how hard they tried and no service on the cell phone up there.

They decided to walk out until they could get cell service instead of staying with the truck. I would have stayed myself until I ran out of gas to keep us warm.
Her dad is 80 and is in terrible health. He has had every heart surgery imaginable and has poor balance and congestive heart failure. She has MS but manages pretty good. She knew her husband would get home from work and be trying to find her.

So they walked in up to 2 feet of snow from 4:30 until just after 10:30 at night in 20 degree weather. he fell 20 times and she fell in a ditch once and was soaked from the mid thigh down to the feet so she was hurting pretty bad. She had agood layered coat on and gloves but they got wet, her dad didnt have a good coat or gloves.

About 8:30 she did manage to get through to a cousin and briefly told her where they were before losing servicea gain. They had a flashlight and a full moon which helped.
About 10:30 they saw head lights coming but it wasnt her husband instead it was 3 drunk men. She siad she was scared and so was her dad but they were in such bad shape they didnt care and got in the car with them.

They got a couple miles down the road and found her husband who drove them back home. He had called 911 and asked them to connect him with the 911 for the county they were in and they wouldnt do it! So he had no way to get them help. It was terrible. So he just took off driving to the area he thought they would be in.

They are ok but tired and sore today. That was truly a miracle they survived.
Next day a tow truck pulled the truck out of the ditch and it was ok too.

I bet they dont try that agin until summer!!

Kathy

Wow Kathy! I'm so happy your friends are ok. With all the stories that have happened around here over the past few years this is great news. It always frightens me when I hear about stories like this on the news. I worry a lot this time of year, but can only pray for those who are lost that by some miracle they will survive. I love the snow, but am very cautious when I'm up in the mountains now for this very reason.

Hope you're able to find a doggie daycare!

Hi Melissa,

Good to see you posting today.

I am always extra cautious too. I take extra food, water and some of those space blankets for extra warmth and I throw a couple of regular blankets in the back too. :thumbsup2 I have lived in Oregon enough years to know all about trraveling in the cold and snow we have around us.

Kathy

Morning all,

still rainy here today.

Luckily I caught a short break in the rain when I took out the pups todays I didnt get drenched for a change.:thumbsup2
Still cold here though.

Greg will be home this afternoon and our son Peter will be coming to visit too.
He just bought his first quad and is going to bring it here ot show me. He is very proud of the deal he got. It is just like mine accept a different color.

So the dogs will be happy when he gets here.

Greg, hope your better awake today:goodvibes
Which day is your surgery? I will be sending prayers and pixie dust your way that day.

My brother went to visit my mom yeaterday and for the first time she didnt know who she was or where she was or how she got there. She was frantically going through her purse looking for ID so she could learn who she was. Crazy thing was she knew my brother and his wife just not who she was.

He told her she was his mom and this was where she lived and here was her room. Then he distracted her with a mini candy bar and got her to go into her room where she laid down and then everything was normal again for her.

I am glad he kept it all simple so not to confuse or frustrate her even more. It is easy to accidntally over load her senses now. One thought at a time is all she can handle. Then it was time for lunch after their visit and she was happily off to lunch after gettng and giving a hug and kiss goodbye.

Tuesday will be her 89th birthday. I want to send some balloons but will have to call and see if thats ok first. No real flowers are allowed due to allergies which i understand.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend.
Kathy

Good morning/afternoon.

It's snowing and very foggy outside today...I'll have to get Chayce to chop some wood because I can't do it with my hands.

I suppose to go in for surgery on Friday, but the way I've been feeling the past few days I'm going to call and see if I can get in sooner.

Janel had to give me double the amount of hydrocodone last night so I could sleep....I just woke up a few minutes ago.

Thanks for the update on your mom. That would be upsetting not knowing who you were! I'm glad your brother was able to get her calmed down.

I've got to lay back down and put cold packs on my joints to keep the inflammation down.

I'll check in later.....

Greg, I sure hope they can take you sooner. Some doctors only have one day a week they do surgeries accept for emergencies. Keep us posted.
Double dose of that is alot of pain killer!!
I sure hope this surgery does you some good.
Keeping fingers and toes crossed for you!!!:thumbsup2

Got to get you back to 110 % so I can feel good about picking on you. I am saving up all kinds of stuff for when your feeling better.:rolleyes1 But only because I care:rotfl2:

Thank goodness for voice recognition for typing :thumbsup2
Also good timing with Chayce being old enough to help with the wood and other chores while your not up to it.
My kids were too young to do much when i was down with cancer and treatments. I'm glad you have a couple who are old enough to understand and help out when needed. Of course having a nurse for a wife is comforting too I'm sure.:goodvibes Janel can keep you in line with no problem.:worship:

Greg and Peter are due home in about an hour. Yeah!! Humans to talk to, well at least close to human:rolleyes1

Its February already people!!!!
This year has flown by so far for me.

Today Pixie finally gets her stitches out.:cool1:

Both dogs are sleeping and hopefully they will sleep right up to time to get ready and go this morning. I hate having to get after Pixie all the time about not licking her stitches so if she sleeps that will help a lot.
Just 2 1/2 hours to go!!

Greg I hope you feeling a bit better today.:flower3:

Its still rainy here which is no surprize. Going to rain all week:scared:

I hope everyone had a good weekend.

Back later after the vets visit.

Kathy

Morning Everyone

Wow Kathy, that's some story. Glad you friends are OK

Greg -hope you feel better soon.

Well we survived the vet. But Pixie was very nervous as we entered the building she remembered it and just couldnt sit still. We were 10 minutes early and they took her right on time so we had 10 minutes of figiting.

Once the vet she goes to pop out ot the receptionists desk to look at a chart and she must have recognised him because she tried to hide under Gregs legs and then she jumped on the seat I was on and snuggled behind me as if to hide. It was funny to see that big old dog trying to hide herself. She was peaking out the other side at him.

I did feel sorry for her at the same time.

The vet came back out with 2 muzzles so Greg could get one on her and then go back. He muzzled her ok but she didnt want to go back. He had to call her many times and tug pretty good on the leash to get her to come.

They wernt even gone 2 minutes until she came barrelling out on the leash heading for the front door. Ha Ha!!! Minnie joined in and dashed with me to the door. The vet tried to give her a nice beefy treat but she sniffed, wagged her tail but turned for the door. No deal.

He did say it looked really good and to put a few doses of Neosporin on it for the next few days.

I stopped at Cottage Grove on the way back and got the pups 2 of their $1. Mc Double burgers as a treat to celebrate being done at the vet. I waited until we got home to feed them though.

it was just such a lousy rainy day I wanted to get back as soon as I could. I hate those big semis and all their road spray on rainy days.

Now I can have my lunch and relax. She can lick her wound all she wants to. Minnie is already alseep from warm food in her tummy.

Kathy

Kathy, glad to hear Pixie got her stitches out and doing well.

Denise, hope your knee is alright?

Christine, :wave2:

I called the Doc to see if I could get in sooner...he's going to try, but as of now I'm not scheduled to go in for surgery until 12:45pm Friday afternoon.

I've been trying to take it easy so my arms and hands won't hurt so much.

Greg,
maybe we should consult that Voo Doo witch doctor guy for a spell to hurry up your Dr. schedule??
He may have a good dance for you do to get you in sooner???
It couldnt hurt??:lmao:

Denise, feel better soon. It seems like the nanaheads are falling apart this week.

still pouring rain here.
Going to make patty melts for dinner tonight. Havnt made them in years but saw some dill rye bread which reminded me of them. Greg use to love them, hope he still does because that will be his dinner reguardless.;)

Kathy

Hi everyone.

We are now thinking of booking at least the four night part of this cruise instead of doing the post-Thanksgiving sailing. Timing is good because the kids usually have the first Monday and Tuesday of November off.... Something to think about. Happy Monday.

greg, good luck on your surgery......gee your so much younger than me, you shouldnt have all these aches and pains!!:scared1:

Jeff,
How was the daddy daughter weekend??:goodvibes
That would be great if you could change your cruise around.

Denise,
great to hear you have your computer back up and running.:thumbsup2

Morning all,

very quiet around here today.

Greg I hope your pain is better today and Denise too.

No plans for today. Just vacuum and maybe one load of wash if I am not too lazy.;) I would like to make some kind of cookie for dessert but I dont know what to make.
Not everything cooks too well in a toaster oven. It is tricky to bake in. I wont know how to cook when I get back to a normal oven again:lmao:

Today my mom turns 89:goodvibes I never believed she would live this long with all her medical problems. But she has. They do a birthday party once amonth where she lives for all the people who have birthdays that month complete with streamers and assorted decorations, cake and ice cream. No candles though, that wouldnt work too well.

If those people wanted to blow out candles the cake would be covered in loose fitting dentures:rotfl2: I will take her a card and small gift this weekend. My oldest daughter is suppose to go with me so that will be nice for mom.

Rainy all week this week. Boring and depressing , the groundhog wont see his shadow here, thats for sure:thumbsup2

Back later,

Kathy

Hey Kathy
We had a great time. We went like crazy and the parks were EMPTY. We never waited more than 15 or 20 minutes for anything and we were able to get on every single ride we wanted. We only hit MK and Epcot since we were staying at the Poly - we only had to use monorail to get there so it made it easy.

We took very few pix as I didn't even take my camera - Lizzie took our old digital camera and i used the iphone but that's why I haven't posted anything. I actually still have photos from our Nov. cruise I should post here for folks to see.

Since we bought annual passes this year and they are for 15 months, we are making the most of it since we probably won't get them next year. Two more Disney trips coming up (March for Spring Break at Bay Lake Tower) and then we just booked a June trip using points for the first two nights at BWV and then four nights at GF concierge - which we booked while there last weekend using a "bounceback" offer and got great pricing. I was able to use miles for one ticket and the others are only $150 each so we just HAD to go. Then Disney Cruise in August to the Med.

Now that I've written all that down, I better get to work to pay for it all! Happy Tuesday everyone.

jeff
