I just got the green light to plan a quick trip to WDW in October. We've stayed at many of the resorts, but we love the Fort. Our last trip was not so great, as we tent camped in December during the biggest cold snap in 50 years a few years back.

How is the weather that time of year? How about spending Halloween at the Fort? Is it crazy and over-crowded, or too fun to miss?

Thanks for any suggestions!

Hi -we will be there the same time at the cabins .This is our 1st time in october .we can't wait .I have read on the boards people decorate their sites .I already have our decorations for our cabin .I am sure you will enjoy your trip .Are you going to Mnsshp ?

We will be there over Halloween this year because we thought it was so great last year. We thoroughly enjoyed watching the golf cart parade last year as well looking at the decorated campsites. We decorated our site and handed out candy to the children trick or treating (you register your site in advance and post a sign if you want to participate.)

We also did one of the haunted carriage rides that are cancelled for this year but I hope to do a regular carriage ride or the hayride just to "site" see.

If you want to do a MNSSHP party, you will need to get your tickets earlier if you want to go on Halloween as I think they are more likely to sell out.

The weather is usually great that time of year. Yes Halloween is crazy busy and over crowded. And yes, to some, it's too fun to miss.

we LOVE halloween at the fort!! It is crowded but amazing to see! Trick or Treating was unreal... We had over 500 kiddies and we LOVED it! We are heading back again this year and bringing our best friends too!!!

You'll probably have a nicer visit the week of the 21st. The Fort will be decorated for Halloween all month and you can attend the Mickey's Halloween Party that week as well. When Fort Wilderness is booked solid during holidays, Security has a hard time "keeping the peace". In addition to "behavior" problems, there are long lines/wait times for everything: food, recreation, seating issues at the pool, movie, and beach, etc.

I'm booked the week of Oct 21- 28 at the cabins. The weather will be warm during the day, but should be comfortable... to cool at night. I always need a sweatshirt at night. The crowds? Who knows, Oct used to be a great time, but it's picked up. Last time I went in Oct. it was crazy busy. :headache:
