Oceanfront hotel recs between St Augustine Florida and Hilton Head SC

WE would like to stay one night on our drive home at an ocean front hotel/resort between St Augustine Florida and HIlton Head. The cheaper the better. Everything on hilton head is very $$$. We wish to keep cost under $150

A few details may help here. Perhaps rough dates, number of people. Ocean front resort and cheap do not often overlap.

We are a family of 2 adults and 2 children 5 and 7. Looking for an arrival date of Friday April 24, we do not plan on swimming in the ocean, just would like to sit on the beach.

When I was looking for 2 nights(Thu/Fri) last September, most St Augustine resorts were 2 nt minimums and averaging close to $300 per night. We ended up staying at WDW instead. You might want to look at World Golf Village. There were multiple hotels, lots of dining options, and the beach was a short drive away.

Hilton Head Holiday Inn is right on the beach and walking distance to lots of shops and restaurants. I found a rate of $171 for that night. Great price. I've stayed there before.

Quality Inn (Choice Hotels) at South Forest Beach (Hilton Head) is walk to beach but not oceanfront.

If you join the Choice Privileges club it's $128 for your night (plus tax).

Never stayed in this hotel, but have eaten at a few of the nearby restaurants.

Perhaps if someone else has stayed they will chime in or you can check reviews.

We are doing the same thing in June. I looked all through St. Augustine FL and Hilton Head for an affordable hotel on the beach. I did find a few in St. Augustine (Hilton and Hampton Inn) but in the end we decided to spend a few nights at Jacksonville Beach at the Hampton Inn there. It gets great reviews on Trip Adviser, isn't that expensive, is right on the beach and has a fantastic pool.
